“Most highly recommended, a superb find in the centre of Ragusa Ibla”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

This was the most outstanding B&B accommodation on our recent tour of Sicily this August. The building is magnificent, both inside and out, and deserves a 5 star rating along with the excellent service we received. The house is beautifully furnished and full of interesting paintings and other interesting pieces. Our bedroom with ensuite bathroom was huge and slept our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 teenagers), really comfortably. Our host was absolutely delightful, genuinely friendly, charming & very helpful. Each morning she laid a breakfast fit for a king, with home-made preserves, breads and sweets. Downstairs there is a huge entrance hall which accommodates a table tennis table and, with added free Wifi, this kept the kids happy whilst we did some serious roaming. Across the street is a lovely cafe selling all sorts of Sicilian salads, snacks and the wonderful 'granitas' that were a must in the baking hot weather. A parking permit is available for on-street parking from the proprietor. Ibla itself is full of alleyways to explore, magnificent views and a lovely place to relax and enjoy the wonderful architecture. For Inspector Montalbano fans, it is a short drive to Puta Seca beach, the fictional home of Montalbano whilst various locations around Ibla & Ragusa have been used in the films.

Room Tip: There is a lift, making access easy for you and your luggage. An on-street parking permit is availa...

i travelled to Sicily for a conference recently. the conference was set in Ragusa Ibla - by far one of the most beautiful and charming places i have ever visited. we chose to stay in Palazzo Castro at the foot of the steps of the incredible church at the centre of the town. i cannot say enough nice things about this place. spacious, spotlessly clean and in an enchanting setting you can't ask for more. run by kind and thoughtful hosts - nothing is too much trouble. breakfasts were a treat. plentiful tasty coffee, homemade preserves from the garden and cakes made to order in the kitchen. Lucia in particular went out of her way to help me - even sending me a bus timetable in advance to help me plan. all i can say is go to Ragusa and stay in Plazzo Castro.

Six of us--relatives and friends--stayed in 3 huge rooms. Our hostesses knocked themselves out to make us feel like treasured guests. At each breakfast they created a different treat, in addition to an individualized version of coffee for each of us and a huge spread of breads, jams, and cakes. The palace couldn't be better situated--from its balconies you can see weddings in the next-door cathedral throughout the day. Restaurants abound, and the best gelato in Ragusa is located on the piazza. The Palazzo's owners have quite an art collection if you are inclined to look at their collection.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the piazza.

What a magnificent place! Right next to the duomo and in the heart of beautiful Ragusa Ibla. The house has been in the same family for hundreds of years and is now run by the charming and very efficient and enthusiastic daughters of the current incumbents. The rooms were enormous and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was a feast of fresh local produce. The elder daughter, Erminia, does the front of house and is also a talented artist.
It was reasonably priced at 122 euros per night, as the value for money was definitely there.
Thanks to our wonderful hosts!!!

Me and my friend are travelling around Sicily for a week and decided to visit Ragusa for a day. So glad we decided to stop here. The family that run it are so very friendly they really make you feel at home and your stay comfortable.

The location is perfect. Virtually next door to the Duomo in the central piazza. Car parking is available with a pass just around the corner.

The B&B itself is a family home with 5 rooms. The one we stayed in was perfect. A good size with a good bathroom and small veranda to catch the suns rays. Wifi is available in most of the building.

A superb breakfast of ricotta, fresh bread and an assortment of various local and Sicilian specialities was served in a lovely room at the side of the central garden for the building. The coffee was very good and we were served a wonderful cake to finish breakfast which was made by one of the sisters who runs this great place.

We had a lovely stay here and if we could have would have stayed longer. We would recommend this place to anyone passing through this beautiful town.

Many thanks again for a wonderful stay.

I stayed from 13-16 April for 4 nights at this beautiful family running B&B, located just right on the Piazza Duomo Ibla where Duomo San Giorgio is. The family was very very kind, tentative, lots of information about the area, always willing to help and So I was looked after very well...felt like I was at home almost!

I was welcomed by Lucia on my arrival, one of the 2 sisters and she was kindly gave me orientation of the facilities first.
I was told by Lucia that this 3 story building was built since 300 years ago and transformed to B&B by her parents about 8 years ago. They nicely renovated internally for guest comfort but respectfully kept original antique furnitures, tiles paintings and some of the beds. The Most noted of there are the lift/elevator so i did not need to climbm stairs with my heavy suitecase!

I stayed at standard room and facing the other side of Square but had a nive view of their garden, very clean, decent space for bathroom and basic bath amenities was available, good pressure of hotwater shower, safty box and hair dryer in the closet and bowl of sweeties on the bed side table! lovely touch Lucia!! Internet connection was available in my room and common room but not at dining room where i had breakfast. Also Fridge was available with large bottle of water in a common room so you can keep your drinks and other stuff.
It was a still chilly in the night and heater was on during a night at both bathroom and bedroom.

Breakfast was served at dining area facing to garden and simple but served freshly bread, sweets, jams, cakes, fruite juice, selections of tea and coffee which were more than good enough for me.
I especially enjoyed chatting with Lucia who bakes excelent Ragusana sweets and were served after breakfast everyday with explanation of ingredients and how to bake or cook them! Do not miss her home made marmalade, citrus jam respected her daddy's recipe and more flavors if available! I hope Lucia can do cooking class for baking and nice italian home cooking next time I go back to stay there!!

I was not well a day before on my departure day and was in bed for all day...but Lucia's mom was kindly brought me hot tea with fresh lemon from their garden to look after me...how nice and it was very kind of her... I thank her again manma!

Location of this B&B was just what I needed, easy to go around, many local restaurants, bars, shops, small super market was just at next door, nice cafe was just a few step out to enjoy a glass of wine with complimentary olives...it was a paradise for me and enjoyed every moment of my stay there with old historical baroque buildings, sounds of bell from Duomo San Giorgio and lovely ladies from this B&B!

On my departure day, Lucia showed me around other rooms ( 2 x suite rooms and attic room where can accommodate 6 guests) and more histories of this place and paintings....

At the moment booking room through by their own website and payment is only cash.
Email corresponding was very fast and efficient.
I will definitely come back to stay again for next trip there!

Wishing you a successful on coming busy busy season to Lucia and her family!!

Love from Thailand!

This B&B is truly a palazzo. It is beautifully furnished and located next to the duomo in a lovely piazza. My room was delightful with a modern, large bath, and a balcony overlooking the garden. The family was very helpful in providing information regarding transportation and the small sightseeing train is available in the piazza. Breakfast was served in a elegant dining room and the patrona is a fountain of info on Sicilian traditions. Another plus is the elevator.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the piazza cost more, but don't be afraid to take one facing the courtyard
