My husband and I had not taken a holiday for 2 years due to heavy work loads. We had purchased an "inclusive" week at the Hotel Cala Del Porto the previous year but had to rescheule for Aug of 2001. When we arrived we were given a small room near the reception that looked toward the parking and entrance of the hotel. We asked to change rooms and even offered to pay the differnce - we were refused. The hotel makes reference of being on the beach. Not true - you overlook the port from the terrace of the restaurant. The beach is a 5 minute drive by car or shuttle. You are given assigned chairs (the same for the entire stay) and must pay for your mattress/chair - even though it was described to be included. At dinner we asked to have a table near the lovely sea view but were told NO. It was not until we got very upset that we received a complimentary bottle of champagne and the following evening we had a table at the front. Restaurant politics! The best aspect of the week was the dinner - the food was fantastic every night.
