They could not have been more helpful during our stay, scooping up our multiple large suitcases onto their shoulders and whisking them to our rooms as if they weighed nothing (trust me, they didn’t!) They always greeted us with a smile each morning and were so attentive and friendly throughout our stay. Always very chatty at dinner and loved a giggle. Any (v.v.few) issues we may have had were solved quickly and efficiently with genuine apologies. They all work so hard- we would see the two waiters leave very last thing at night and be there ready and spritely at breakfast- so we really did appreciate how they were always so positive and always wanting to make your stay as wonderful as possible.
We were a big group of 8 and so had 4 rooms in the hotel. Each room was just lovely. Nothing fancy, but more than adequate, well decorated with all amenities that you might need (although my tea addicted Mother brought a kettle & Twinings...) Bathrooms were small but had lovely tiled designs, some of our rooms had baths, some only showers. All rooms had great views of the sea, this was so lovely to wake up to. Mine and my boyfriends room shared a terrace with my sister and her mister, it was great to share with her (and handy when swapping wardrobes in the evening), but maybe bear this in mind when booking if you are a couple and want a little more privacy.
My eldest sister & her partner had the Marina room (I think!) it had a large private terrace, and their bedroom was larger than ours, it was also very private. However, the hot tub they had was actually a cold tub with no bubbles- so we never actually used it, even though it was August and the weather was sweltering, it wasn't what you wanted as the sun was setting and you had just got in from exploring. Another thing to bear in mind if booking.
My Mother of course had the cream of the crop with her room, we can't remember the name but it was on the bottom 'tier' of the hotel, it had a long private garden area leading to the room and at the foot of her bed were tall shutters that opened up to the most incredible undisturbed view. Dreamy.
We ended up eating in the restaurant for 1 lunch and about 4 dinners and every day for breakfast!
Firstly, each morning you wake up to a buffet-style breakfast. This was lovely and they gave you a lot more than some other 'no frills' hotels. The lovely staff would first make wonderful cappucino's or espresso, there were also fresh juices available. For food there was always an array of freshly baked croissants, bread, pastries, boiled eggs, cheeses, cured meats, yoghurts and fresh fruit! Yummy, you could keep it as simple as you want or stuff yourself. It was all very tasty and the coffee sublime.
Our lunch was just after we checked in, having not eaten for hours, we had various bowls of pasta and salads to share while sitting under the lemon trees in the sunshine with the beautiful views of the Med- stunning!
We ate a lot of dinners here but It was just so cosy in the restaurant we couldn’t resist, especially during a thunderstorm!
Our dinners were normally when we were sleepy from a day out exploring, so we made the most of the short waddle to the restaurant and enjoyed lengthy relaxed dinners. We have all since agreed that Costa Diva was our favourite restaurant of the trip- the food was relaxed, fresh and so delicious, the menu had great variation and so all 8 of us were able to try a variety of different dishes during our stay. There was always fresh fish on offer, caught that day, served very simple with a few different choices of dressings. Every dinner we left with tummies full from gorgeous food & wine and our faces aching from laughter.
The hotel has steps that wind down through the sister hotel next door that leads to a rocky area with a stepladder straight to the sea for swimming (and jumping!) it’s great fun and a lovely swim/sunbathing spot (there are beds but not many).
Praiano beach is really the only place you can explore on foot from the hotel (it’s a short walk, but beware on the way back it's uphill) It is a lovely beach. From here you can also organise boat rental to Capri and hire some snorkels for swimming on the beach. Also some lovely restaurants for dinner.
Thank you to everyone at Costa Diva for making our trip one of our most treasured memories together as a family. We hope to return! ☺
