“Best place to stay on the Amalfi coast!”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

Dear Famiglia Esposito,
Our family have just returned from holiday in Italy and wanted to once again thank you for your wonderful hospitality. Your family/staff made us so comfortable and well care for. We had a spectacular view of the sea and Positano in our room # 30 not to mention fabulous meals at your restaurant with a gorgeous view. It made my wife and young son very sad to leave. Our time at Tramonto D"Oro was the most beautiful and favorite part of our trip- the best holiday ever!

Thank you all so much for everything!

We can't wait to return!!!

My husband and I had dinner here on our last night in the area.

What a fantastic experience, the views were breathtaking and the service and food was outstanding.
I would highly recommend this restaurant, the staff were very friendly, the menu was reasonable and the food simply divine. We couldn't get enough of it, only a pity we didn't find it sooner.

Would love to go back, thank you for a wonderful evening.

Room Tip: Choose a table on the Positano side with the best views!

My wife had stayed at this hotel a year ago, and when we had to change our holiday plans at short notice, we were fortunate to be able to book two rooms for a week at this wonderful hotel. It was worth every euro and made for a splendid family celebration. The rooms were comfortable and well furnished. We enjoyed spectacular sea views from the balcony of our rooms, and the owners and their staff could not have been more helpful.

Praiano is centrally situated on the Amalfi coast. We enjoyed long walks each day with the knowledge of an excellent dinner on a terrasse over-looking the bay to look forward to, after a dip in the hotel's roof-top swimming pool.

The hotel is truly a gem and we look forward to returning. The only downside is that the corridors can be slightly echoing magnifying the noise of families returning late at night or leaving early.

After being engaged we decided to have our wedding in Italy. In the summer of 2013 we travelled to the Amalfi coast to look at possible venues. We started off in Positano. A beautiful Italian village but after spending a day there it was very busy and hilly. Moving guests would be hard around the local area. We then headed down the coast road to Amalfi. After 20 minutes we drove through the picturesque town of Praiano. In the heart of this town we came upon the Hotel Tramonto D'Ora. A beautiful 4* hotel with amazing views not only of the Amalfi coast but also of the local church. On arrival we were greeted by Carmella the owner with a smile and welcoming arms. After spending 2 nights there we knew this was the perfect place. In May 2014 we took 50 guests over for our wedding for 4 days. The support and information given via emails prior to the wedding was immense and put all worries to rest. On arrival all hotel staff were amazing and catered for not only ourselves but all of our guests as well. The rooms were amazing with stunning views of the coast. On the wedding day the dining room and reception area were set up perfectly and the head waiter catered to all our needs. All the staff were amazing and Carmella also introduced us to her mother who lives at the hotel and wandered the hotel making all guests feel welcome. The menu we picked for the day was amazing and everyone gave giving compliments about the food. At the end of the night a superlative wedding cake was brought out which just topped the day off. After the wedding we spent another couple of nights were we still catered for amazingly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone heading to the Amalfi coast to stay or pop in to try the cuisine. Thank you Carmela for our amazing day we cannot await to return and I know many of our friends and family feel the same

Room Tip: Top 2 floors have stunning views

We departed Praiano yesterday after a lovely three nights at Hotel Tramonto d'Oro. My family and I shared a room a queen and adjoining twin room for my children. Two bathrooms were very convenient. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. The Restaurant was amazing with both dinner and breakfast being served. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The owner Carmela makes this place, always enquiring about your day and helping with ideas for day trips, restaurants etc.
The only let down for us was the SITA bus strike, which left us unable to travel to Amalfi as a taxi was going to cost €100 each way and water taxi even more. The weather also made travelling by boat very difficult one day as the high seas meant no local boats operating. I would definitely recommend Praiano as an option over busy overcrowded Positano, although I would suggest a hire car to get around. Parking for day trips is easy.

We just returned from a three-night stay at Tramonto d'Oro, June 12-15 and we were blown away by how beautiful the hotel is and how helpful and friendly everyone on the staff is. As many of the other reviews say, this is a family-run hotel that truly takes pride in everything they do and genuinely makes you feel like part of the family. The restaurant is awesome, we ate there for dinner twice, and you can't beat the view! The same amount of money spent on a breathtaking sea-view room at Tramonto d'Oro will buy you a tourist-trap crappy room with no view in Positano. As an added bonus, the beginning of the footpath of the gods is just a few steps away from the front door of the hotel (I highly recommend it, the views from the mountain are amazing), and the Vivaro wine bar is also just a few steps from the front door (one of the best meals we had in Italy.) When we return to the Amalfi coast, I won't even consider staying anywhere else. I've never written a TA review before, but had to write this one.

Room Tip: Get the sea-view rooms. They are beautiful.

Our first visit to the Amalfi Coast and we lucked out by staying at this gem. We'd booked a room with a "partial sea view" and while I guess there may have been some part of the sea somewhere that we couldn't look at from our balcony on the first floor, it's hard to imagine where it was hidden!

We came in via a private driver from Sorento and were warmly welcomed by the woman at the front desk who escorted us to our room. The room itself was large and while fairly basic, it had everything we needed. And the view from the balcony towards Positano was simply breathtaking, day and night.

Breakfast was good (fairly typical for an Italian hotel) and dinner in the restaurant overlooking the Med was delicious. The pool is on the roof (did I mention the views?) and was warm and deep. There was a small exercise room tucked away below.

The people were great throughout, and a highlight was a warm hug from Nonna for my wife, whose mother died earlier this year. She told us proudly that "this is my house" and she'd been living there for 55 years.

The beach is about 400 steps down (and back up) and is worth a visit just to experience the One Fire bar that services its visitors. Yummy food and a party vibe.

We'll be back!

Room Tip: The floors are numbered down the cliff, with 1 being the highest and having the best views.
