My wife and I (both 60ish and very active) stayed here for 3 nights. We did 3 nights here and 4 nights in Positano. Staying in Praiano put us way closer to Amalfi, Ravello, etc. than Positano and nice rooms are much cheaper in Praiano. It was a great plan.

The staff and especially the owners, Carmela and her mother who founded this very nice hotel 61 years ago (Grandma is in the hotel every day walking around and making guests feel comfortable - delightful!) They had already upgraded our room without us even asking. They just had one available and wanted to put their best foot forward. I mentioned we were on our honeymoon and within minutes Carmela had a bottle of champagne and a fruit plate delivered to us! The room was wonderful with a view all the way to the small islands on Capri and a stunning view (day and night) of Positano.

The housekeepers were amazing. We never put out the Do Not Disturb sign, yet no one ever knocked on our door no matter how late we slept in (til noon the first day - jet lag!) the room was especially clean, bright and cheerful.

Lunch was great with wonderful views from the terrace. We did not eat dinner at the hotel. Breakfast could be a little better but was OK - especially the fresh fruit. Wi-Fi was pretty much lobby only.

There is a SITA bus stop right at the hotel (going either way: toward Amalfi or Positano - best way to get around the coast). Buy tickets across the street at the deli/tobacco shop.

Also across the street is the best dining experience in the whole area - Vivaro Wine Bar operated by Gennaro as his personal kitchen/restaurant. 10 tables a night. Everything is done 100% by Gennaro who is delightful and a terrific chef.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tramonto d' Oto. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and friendly, with great tips on what to do and how to go about it, and were just delightful to talk to. It is a wonderful, family owned and operated hotel that I hope will continue for generations to come.

We stayed at Tromonto D'Oro in the beginning of September at the end of the Amalfi tourist season which was perfect. After paying for over priced rooms in Positano we took a taxi from the main piazza about 20 minutes to Praiano. 27 Euro. Buses were spotty and confusing. When we arrived we inquired about upgrading our room and were shown two larger rooms that were nicer than what we booked. The second room for 50 euro more than our basic room price was completely renovated with million dollar views of Positano and the coast all the way up to Capri. Having stayed in Luca, Florence, Naples, Sorrento and Positano this was by far the most spectacular room we stayed in (and we were staying at very nice hotels) and it was fairly priced. We should have been here the entire time as Praiano is perfectly located in the center of the Amalfi Coast. The town is quiet, less touristy and easily managed. There are a few good restaurants in town but Positano and other towns are a quick trip down the road.

The decor in the room is spectacular with hand-painted tile throughout and comfortable couches, chairs and beds. The bathroom was huge by european standards and balcony was the perfect place to end our evenings. The rooftop pool was HUGE and the views from the snack bar at the pool rival some of the finest restaurants. We did not eat at the restaurant but it was packed every night and the music could be heard from our balcony at night which was lovely. After we checked in they brought us a tray of fresh fruit and proseco which was very very nice. During the day we walked down to the beach from the back of the hotel. Be prepared...the walk back up is about 500 stairs, however, most of amalfi coast is like this so you will get that anywhere you go.

The beach club once you get to the bottom, One Fire, is awesome. Very friendly owner and this was the least touristy of all the beaches we went to, (sorrento, positano, capri). Music played at the beach was great, food was excellent and prices were fair but bring your own towel as its 5euro a towel and this can be avoided. Chairs are 10 euro and food is fairly priced.
The gentelman at the snack bar at Tramonto is very nice and helpful. His english is good and he brings your food right to your lounge chair. He is the porter, bartender and snack bar runner!

Overall we will recommend this hotel to everyone traveling to the Amalfi Coast. Internet was a little spotty in the rooms, could use a stronger signal as we could only get it on the balcony and in the lobby.

Room Tip: Ask for the renovated water front rooms....worth the extra 50 euro a night.

I stayed at this hotel with two friends from 22-27 Aug and we were all very impressed with the whole trip. The staff at the hotel were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English.

Our room had an amazing view across the sea and was a good size for a triple room. The only minor thing that could have been better was the bathroom, the shower was very weak and the shower screen looked like it might fall off!

The pool was really nice and the views were amazing. The whole pool area was always immaculately kept. We had lunch by the pool most days and ate in the restaurant in the evening twice. Everything was extremely well priced and the food was of a very good quality. The buffet breakfast had a good selection and we always managed to get a table outside on the balcony.

The area is relatively quiet but it was easy and cheap enough to get the bus to Positano and Amalfi (albeit slightly scary on the windy roads). I would avoid taxis as they are pretty pricey (€30 to Positano and €60 to Amalfi). We also went to Capri which the hotel arranged for us. Capri was nice but Praiano is nicer and the people in Capri weren't half as nice as the people in Praiano.

We would recommend going to the pizza place which is a 5 minute walk down the road from the hotel. The tables are set up on the steps leading up to the restaurant and the pizzas were delicious but so cheap (mine was €5)! The waitress was also very friendly.

All in all this was an excellent holiday which was topped by the lovely people at the hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a view. We heard there are some rooms with no view which would be...

I travel ALOT for business and pleasure and rarely bother to write reviews, however this place was soooo fantastic here I am. There is nothing to fault, ok maybe the coffee but I drank tea. Staff were the BEST- all of them from front desk to housekeeping. Rooms perfect, I was there with friends and as we extended our stay we ended up trying all from standard no view to deluxe twin. Restaurant amazing! Save room for desert! And fantastic pool with the best view. Location is a perfect base - priano has great restaurants, beach and club and is a great base to visit the more touristy possitno and Almalfi. This was one of my facourite trips, Make sure you say hi to la nonna for us :D

I stayed 8 nights at this hotel with my 3 kids - ages 6,8,10 and it was a great stay. Amazing views from the restaurant and the rooftop pool(which was always sparkling clean). The staff were always super friendly and very helpful in planning our excursions. Special kudos to Anita, Agnes and Ivana who were wonderful. The owner - Theresa, is always walking around, greeting you and made us feel right at home. It's a great location for getting into Positano (we used the bus, which the stop is right outside the hotel, 1.70 euros each way), Amalfi, Minori and Maiori. It's much quieter than Positano which is great. There were other nice restaurants to choose from just minutes away by foot. You access the beach by walking down about 400 steps, nice views also. Beach has a private club on it - One Fire, which you can purchase a chair for 10 euros. Worth it because there is no other shade. It's a great central location on the Amalfi Coast. I would highly recommend this hotel for families. Food was great and had a good breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: I stayed in an adjoining room - room 31 and 32 and it had great views.

We have just returned from a week's stay at this lovely family run hotel. The hotel is literally built into the cliff & offers superb views of the coastline & to Positano .
We had 2 interconnecting rooms 38 & 39, both of which were very nicely & traditionally decorated, both with small, basic bathrooms. Superb view from balcony of 39.
Breakfast served on terraces overlooking sea - decent breakfast, but coffee & orange juice both served from machines & fairly tasteless ...
We ate in the hotel restaurant 6/7 nights & food was excellent - plenty of choice - pasta, fresh fish boned at the table, meat & great puds ! Great service from a handful of very professional staff.
Hotel is right next to chaotic coast round, so a certain amount of noise by the rooftop pool. Pool 'L' shaped , clean & a decent size . Plenty of loungers , often reserved first thing , despite lack of Germans at the hotel !!
My husband used the gym, adequate & was only person in it every morning.
Praiano itself is strung out along the main road & not a huge amount to it , although after visiting Positano I was happy staying in a quieter resort ! Bus stops right outside hotel & definitely not running to published timetable !
One Fire Beach directly below - lots of steps & hard work coming back, but nice bar to pysche yourself up for the return trip ! We walked up to the monastery , following the 'walk of the Gods ' sign - bit of a challenge but definitely earned a pud ... Or two !!
The owners deserve a special mention , ever present & extremely hard working .. Seeing the elderly owners working morning & evening makes you appreciate their efforts even more.
