“WOW DREAM PLACE”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

We were here as a family of 5 with a 2 year old. Elia the hotel owner was stupendous. The place is very well kept, clean and tidy. Even the local tenant who lives on top floor was pleasant. On our way down the 105 steps to the road there is a farmer who keeps a vegitable garden super friendly. The scenery is superby overlooking the Amalfi coast. Elia arranged for a tour to Capri. He provided info for Positanto when it didn;t turn out cause the bus never picked us up, he immediately refunded us the bus fare. Elia, thank you so much for a wonder stay, From you Montreal friends. Most definetly recommend.

Imagine waking up overlooking the deep blue sea combined with a spectacular view on Positano and the Amalfi Coast. You can even see the Island of Capri. Calanteluna is really a heavenly place. Elia and Pietro and of course 'Mamma' of very kind and helpful and will make you feel welcome and at home. The renovated appartments just meets al you needs. Not to mention the jacuzzi and sunchairs in the garden. We just loved it! Thank you Elia and Pietro!

I stayed here with my husband for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was simply the best place we have ever stayed. We had the studio apartment which was perfect for us. There are over a 100 steps up to the apartment, after a very steep hill, but this actually helped us to walk off all the lovely food we ate. The view from the apartment was stunning, looking over to Posiatano and Capri (in the distance). The stove was only one hob but it enough to manage to cook breakfast each morning, which we then ate out on the balcony. We found some fantastic restaurants but a few stand out. Firstly La Strada which is on the main road just down from the apartment. The food is excellent value for money and huge huge portions. Secondly was M'ama! which was from a left turn up the road from the apartment then down the road once at the top of the hill. We ate on the rooftop terrace, which was very atmospheric with candles, and had an amazing meal of salt baked fish and veg. It was a bit more pricey but roughly £100 for 3 course meal and lots of wine, but worth it. It was easy to get around by bus and incidentally we came all the way from Naples airport by bus and it was easy as anything. I must also just mention Il Pirata which is a 15 min walk from the apartment but worth it. They have the best sunloungers, in my opinion, and the best value. its not on the beach but you can jump straight in to the sea from here and use the static ladder to climb out with. They also do good food and wine and you could literally spend the whole day here and hardly need to move. It was such an amazing holiday and I would recommend Calanteluna totally as a good base for the amalfi coast. Positano was way too busy for us and very expensive to stay on the beach - charging up to 30euros per couple for sunloungers.

Calante Luna - is way more than we had hoped for! Our apartment was extremely clean, spacious and beautifully decorated (two large bedrooms with huge bathrooms, as well as a well stocked kitchen (pots, pans, dishes, etc.), not to mention the most spectacular view from our patio on which we enjoyed many bottles of wine). The main level has a great area where you can lay out in a hammock or on one of the sunbathing chairs. The owners recently installed a hot tub - which tops the cake!

One of the owners, Elia could not have been more helpful-he organized a number of excursions for us, negotiated with our car service to help us get better rates! While Elia had one day off, his brother stepped in and made sure that we were taken care of. (I should also mention that the second we arrived, their mother brought us juice and greeted us) We couldn't have asked for a more helpful and pleasant family!

We completely agree with the previous reviews, the pictures are amazing, but it's even more breath taking than it looks.

In addition, the family owns a restaurant in Positano: Saraceno d'Oro, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is great, the service is impeccable, we had to go twice during our short stay!)

Book this place and you will not regret it!

We had a fantastic week on the Amalfi and staying in Calantaluna had a lot to do with it. We stayed in the 2 bedroom La casa del sole which was beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. I agree with previous reviews, the pictures are amazing but it's even prettier than it looks. Elia and Pietro were so helpful and even before we arrived, they helped us with travel arrangements etc via telephone and email. We found the service caring and very efficient and it was great that they were regularly onsite to help us with options of things to do. Elia is very knowledgeable and advised us on a kayaking tour with Positano Kayak (which was fantastic), the route for the Walk of the Gods and a great scooter trip to Vietri, Cetara and Amalfi. We were fortunate to eat in their fantastic restaurant in Positano Saraceno d'Oro which we thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend. We are due back to the Amalfi coast next June and would not hesitate staying here again.

We have just returned from Calanteluna and loved it! The rooms were extremely clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Very comfy bed. Praiano is small but really friendly and there are a couple of nice bars and restaurants. You can catch the bus from the bottom of he road to go to Positano and the other way toAmalfi which is handy.

The owners cannot do enough to help and they my young daughter feel really at home. Thanks everyone!

Beautiful place- wouldn't hesitate in recommending it!

I came to Praiano with 3 girlfriends to escape the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple and lose ourselves in the magic of the Mediterranean Sea.

It. Was. Heaven.

I am writing this review on my last night here. Our bags are packed, pictures downloaded and though we are sad to leave we remind ourselves that "there is no crying in the Amalfi Coast".

So on with the review; everything that the other reviewers have said is 200% true. The views are breathtaking and the apartment complex is decorated impeccably, just like a home away from
home. Elia and Mamma have thought of every detail, from cooking utensils, to recommendations for day trips, restaurants and local sights. DO LISTEN TO Elia when he advises you on times to depart for trips to Amalfi or Positano, we were stubborn on a few occasions and found ourselves smashed into crowded SITA buses and running to catch boats on the pier.

And yes, the ARE many stairs and hills. This is NO joke. The plus? You will walk off every ounce
of pasta, limoncello and gelato you eat. And when you arrive, the incredible views in your private oasis will make the walking worth it. The minus? You will swear like a sailor walking up the
steep hill and stairs to your awesome apartment. (A special tip for those of you with shoddy knees like me, I suggest walking up the hill backwards. It really helps!)

We stayed in Praiano for 7 days and visited Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and had a boat trip to
Capri and a cooking class coordinated by Elia. (Did I mention that Elia is fantastic?)

If you are looking for a cozy home base while visiting the Amalfi Coast, in a central location and
want to avoid the "masses" at hotels, then Calanateluna is the place for you.

We will be back.
