Having walked around the harbour area of Pozzuoli I chose Taverna del Mare and it was wonderful. No menu, just a duplicated scrap of A5 which stated 10 antipasti del mare, primo piatti of mixed shellfish pasta and secondo piatti of grilled fish plus water, wine and fruit to finish. I explained that I did not need a secondo piatta and we agreed a discount.
A litre bottle of water, half a litre of wine and bread appeared all transported by a lovely young girl who looked just how Sophia Loren, who was born here 80 years ago, must have looked 62 years ago!
The ten antipasti were all fabulous as was the seafood pasta. I've often wondered what razor fish taste like and now I know; but these were quite small, maybe just 75mm long. The fruit, which I did not really need but nearly finished, was a quarter of a fresh pineapple, sliced in 10mm sections and delicious. Then came quite the most lovely, fresh, fruity Limoncella I've ever tasted. A truly lovely meal with which to round off my 8 day travels around the bottom of this lovely country.
