“Nice hotel but the pool is a problem.”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

The hotel is very nice, clean and well situated in a quiet suburb of Pozzuoli. The staff are very helpful and will help you out with any problems you might have, like parking tickets and none payment of toll charges! Some of the rooms do need updating, we stayed in a quad in the first week, there were two large rooms and bathroom but there was no balcony. It had carpets which were thread bare and the furiture was dated, but it was clean. We asked to be moved in the second week because the room was near the lifts and the Japanese have no respect for others no matter what time of day it is! So our second room had a balcony at the front of the hotel with beautiful views on the top floor. It was alot quieter and just another example of how helpful the staff were. The breakfast is basic continental stuff, croissants, cereal, etc. The local shops, takeaways and restaurants were all very good and spoke basic English. Our only problem was the pool. It was very clean and safe, there were at least two lifeguards on duty all the time. But, the public were allowed to use the pool and it became a pool party atmosphere, loud music and people diving in the pool isn't our idea of a relaxing holiday when you've spent all day sightseeing. And, if you go after dinner you will be lucky to get a sunbed. That was the only issue we had and it is only a small one. Also note that if you go in August between the 12th and 26th all the local eating places shut down for their holidays and you will need a car to travel into Pozzuoli or Naples.

Room Tip: Make sure you get one with a balcony, the views are stunning as the sunrises!

The hotel organised a taxi to pick up the family from the airport and checked the price, traveling with children at night this was fantastic!

The hotel provided free internet and this was great for working out where to go and how to get there.

The room was a quad, clean and comfortable with good beds for all, we were offered a larger room at the back of the hotel but we stayed in the first room, it was plenty big enough.

The pool and pool cafe was exceptional, it was well run and safe, the slide has been removed but we didn‘t miss it.

Breakfast satisfies those with a sweet tooth with pastries and cereal for those who don‘t. The coffee was excellent!

We don‘t usually go back to the same hotel as we try different areas in a country, but we are that impressed with the hotel and facilities that we are planning to stay there next year as part of our trip.

We've just had a week at the Tennis Hotel and can really recommend it. The staff are lovely and so helpful. The decor is a bit dated- the hotel's hayday was when NATO/USA officials and staff used to regularly stop over [there are lots of photos of American generals and letters of thanks]. Breakfast is basic, but the coffee/capuchinos are great and you have to sit out on the terrace admiring the views of the surrounding hills.
The rooms are spacious, cool and spotlessly clean with a huge bathroom. We were given a small fridge to keep drinks/food cool. There's a small supermarket just down the road and a few pizza places nearby [the hotel didn't do any evening meals].
The pool is fab! The Italians pay to come in [free for us -but remember a swimming hat or buy one for 2 euros] and laze around all day on sunbeads, chatting and topping up their tans. Actually a really nice atmosphere with lots of kids around. All the women wear bikinis! Small cafe too. The pool is open strictly 10-5pm and really well looked after but no slide.
The general area outside the hotel us very urban, with lots of litter on the streets, car showrooms and modern flats. You need to get the C2 or 602 busfrom outside the hotel to Mostra [Campie Flegri Metro station takes you east to Napoli or west to Puzuolli and the Underground station 100yds away, lets you use the Kumona line to Montesanto in Napoli or the coast west of Puzuolli] You can buy 90 min tickets for 1 euro 20 or daily/3 day tickets. Same price for kids. Our tickets were never checked. You must go to Pompeii- it's huge- but if student/kids under 18/EU teacher take your passports as proof to get a big discount [we were ripped of because we had no proof and had to pay 11Euro each].
The weather in Aug was superb -take lots of water [OK to drink in hotel] Enjoy!

There is nothing wrong with the hotel, however their website is misleading. It states a shuttle service is available from the airport but that is not the case. The arrangement is that a local taxi company will offer preferential rates if booked via the hotel. In our case, using this facility the fare from the airport to the hotel was 45 Euros and from the hotel to the airport was 36 Euros.
The C2 bus runs every 20 minutes or so and stops right outside the hotel, however, you cannot buy the tickets from the driver, and have to buy prepaid tickets from the local tobacconists which is a problem as not all tobacconists seem to sell them.
There is not much nightlife here and only a couple of restaurants and a few cafeterias locally.
If you have a car then it is not a problem, but if you are relying on foot or public transport it is a bit isolated.
The breakfasts were continental breakfasts and consisted of mainly pastries and bread, with tea and coffee.

We choose this hotel as it was reasonably priced and we wanted to travel around the bay of Naples. The hotel was clean, the rooms spacious although basic & a little old fashioned. Our main complaint with the hotel was the breakfast,we have travelled around quite a bit and are not fussy when it comes to types of breakfast whether it be a large buffet or a basic continental type but at this hotel there was only sweet things on the buffet and just some cheese or ham to go with the bread would have been appreciated! Because it is off the beaten track and taxis are very expensive it means getting buses and trains every day to get anywhere. The hotel staff were very helpful and gave us advice on which transport to get.The C2 bus stops right outside the hotel and takes you to Campi Fregrai station there we got a train to either piazza Amadeo to go to the port,or piazza Garibaldi where you can change trains to go to Pompeii Vasuvius or Sorrento. We arrived at 23.30 and it cost us 70 euro to get to the hotel from the airport by taxi a journey of just 15 mins! So beware of using taxis! Train and bus travel is very cheap and 1 ticket costing about a euro will take you anywhere in the Naples region on both train and bus or mixture of both for 90 mins.Make sure you visit the small solfatera right by the hotel it is very impressive.

Positive: very well located closed to the highway, in a privare area, very large sized rooms, very quiet, extremely cheap, tennis courts and big swimming pool (during summer)
Negative: the hotel and the rooms are a bit tired. If you travel without car you cant manage to stay there.
Gobally a good cheap option while in Naples (provided you have your own car)
A tip: ask for a front room (swimming pool side)

Here is an outstanding small family owned and operated hotel. Attention to every need is obvious from check in. A little bit off the beaten path but couldn't be handier to Naples, Pozzuoli and the Autostrada.
Parking is readily available and free. The environment is secure, the pool is gorgeous and as the name implies there is are many tennis courts as well as soccer fields. The staff is most gracious and accommodating. Rooms are neat, clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant is so good you'll find yourself not going out to eat! Rates are a bargain. Guarantee you'll want to come back again and again.
