This hotel is one of the cheapest in the Positano area, and the room reflects the price. The double bed was literally two twin beds pushed together and they always moved apart. The mattresses themselves were terribly uncomfortable and I slept horribly. We had a room with a large balcony, with a nice view of Positano itself (the site said they overlooked the ocean, but we couldn't see it). Overall the place was clean, though the walls are very thin and we could hear people on their balconies or in their rooms.

Oh, and there's no "Privacy Please" sign for the doors. My husband and I were in bed reading around 11am one morning, and the cleaning lady opened the door without announcing herself!

Mostly, we were annoyed with the owner/lady at the front desk, Rosaria. She lied to us and said the credit card machine didn't work. We were suspicious, but still stressed out about getting enough cash to pay for a 4 night stay. When we called her and told her we were having problems getting enough money (about 320 euro), she didn't even keep up her farce and said it would be no problem to use the card machine.

There are too many tourists in Positano, and we felt like the locals were always trying to take advantange of us.

Villa Verde, was picked from driving through Positano. To be honest we were tired it was Good Friday and yhjey had a vacancy sign out. The hotel is below road level, includes free parking. Despite what is said, hire a car and drive to the Amalfi Coast, once you are there park the car the Positano circuit bus stops outside the door and the walk is also very enjoyable. The hotel is older bit clean and pleasant, after all you really are only after a bed. Breakfast was included and typical Italiano.

It was a highlight of our 5 week stay in Italy.

We stayed for 3 nights in Villa Verde in Positano.
The albergho is quite high up in the hills , but very close to the Chiesa Nuova busstop of the Amalfi coast buses .
The place is basic but ok .

We spent two nights in the Villa Verde hotel overlooking the town of Positano on the Amalfi coast of Italy. (This is a small, 2 star Hotel/Bed&Breakfast above Positano - not to be confused with the Villa Onda Verde in Praiano or the Villa Franca in Positano). We had a wonderful stay, and I would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel.
We had two rooms for our group of 5 (mom, dad, 3 girls [13,11 & 9]). The rooms had a balcony, with a small table and chairs, overlooking the town and Mediterranean. (The lights coming on in town at sundown were beautiful!) Each room had its own bath, and breakfast was included. We paid 50 euros for the double, and 60 euros for the triple room. They had a very small parking area for 10 euros (which we probably could have gotten for free if we'd thought to ask nice...).
The hotel is situated at the top of the hill, and it's quite a hike down to the city and beach (15 minutes down, 25 back up - very steep!). There was a nice little grocery store about half way down the hill.
It took about an hour to drive to Pompeii (curvy mountain switchbacks with lots of traffic).
This is a great budget hotel and the owners were very friendly and accomodating.
