Villa Fiorentino does not disappoint.!
We spent a week at the stunning Villa and home of the amazing Fiorentino Family. We were instantly greeted by the wonderful Chef extraordinaire Paola and she started offering us drinks and provided an amazing pool side lunch after our long travels from Boston. Our villa apartment "Victoria" was simply wonderful with period furnishings and over the top views of beautiful Positano. Our terrace took our breath away! The location is perfect with a local store right across the street. Our afternoons by the pool were a great way to relax after having fun shopping and sightseeing. You will get used to the stairs- it is always worth the climb. If you are looking for perfection and all things Italy, do not hesitate to book this Villa. Every day in Positano was better than the last. We cant wait to go back!!! Thank you Fiorentino Family for making our 20th wedding anniversary a trip of a lifetime!

Room Tip: All the apartments are amazing. We traveled with 2 other couples and got a tour of the honeymoon swe...

We were two couples and stayed in the two bedroom Sogno D. Amore suite. Besides the spectacular view from the big dinning balcony, there were a number of logistics that make this the perfect place to stay.

They have a clothes washer in the apartment, so you can reduce the amount of clothing you have to bring on your vacation. That's a huge "plus".

There is a fully equipped kitchen, which allows you to eat meals in-house. The family owned market across from the hotel's front door is stocked with meats, pasta, and wine. There is a produce shop a few yards down the street (owned by the same family) to supply the rest of your meal. One of the market owner's family is a friendly, English-speaking gal named Amelia and she made our vacation in Positano wonderful. If you ask her, she will recommend ingredients and cooking tips for terrific meals.

The view from this unit's balcony is one of the most beautiful sights imaginable.

The hotel is located high in Positano, but the town's bus stops nearly in front of the hotel's door. You can walk down to the shops by the beach and then take the bus back to the hotel.

If you like to lay by a pool and take a soothing plunge; this hotel has one of the very few pools in the city. The view from the roof pool will blow you away. The pool side has a small grove of trees to shelter your from the noon sun.

The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate us with reservations around town etc.

We were very sad to leave this place.

This was our first stay in Positano and we couldn't have chosen a better location for a dream holiday. Villa Fiorentino is beautiful, with stunning views over the sea and town. We stayed in Sogno D'Amore, a 2 bedroom apartment on the top level of the villa. It was huge, with beautiful period furniture, and doors from the main bedroom and lounge leading on to a large terrace which had a dining table and chairs, plus sun loungers and a smaller table and chairs. The views are absolutely spectacular and because of the location of the villa, the terraces keep the sun until late afternoon. We were there at the end of September and the sun usually disappeared behind the mountain opposite us at between 5.30 and 6pm, but even after this, it was a perfect place to watch the sunset and the sparkling lights of the town and boats in the bay.
The apartment also had all the mod cons - a large flat screen TV, iPod player and a well stocked kitchen. We cooked for ourselves quite a few times, making the most of the great delis in town - there's a decent little shop just across from the villa that does great Parma ham, mozzarella etc and a fruit and veg shop, run by the same family, just a little further along the road. There are a couple of butchers and fishmongers too - we had great sea bass and langoustines, incredibly fresh (in fact, the langoustines were still alive when we bought them).
The infinity pool at the very top of the villa is stunning - the views are breathtaking and the water was crystal clear and very refreshing (i.e. freezing! but just what was needed in the hot sun).
We didn't see much of the staff running the Villa - but that's exactly what we prefer, which is why we booked an apartment rather than a hotel - but our apartment was always spotlessly clean when we came back after going out, whether we were gone for the day or just an hour (I suspect they clocked when we left and went in immediately - perfect service!). We asked for a reservation to be made for us at La Tagliata, a restaurant up in the mountains, which they did and, when we couldn't be accommodated on the complimentary bus on the way up, the very charming Domineco drove us up himself. Domineco is the patron of the Fiorentino family, a 78 year old retired cardiac surgeon, who was visibly proud of his beautiful town and lovely family - and rightly so.
We decided against hiring a car - the Villa has no parking - and were really glad we didn't. Driving the Amalfi Coast is not for the faint-hearted and we got by fine with a combination of taxis, bus, boat and train - we even hired a scooter for the day and drove to Amalfi (heart in mouth, but the best way to see the coast).
The Villa is set quite high above Positano, so there is a lot of climbing involved, but we expected that. There is a bus from the bottom of town which stops very close to the Villa, but we never felt any need to use it. When we were feeling energetic, we did the stairs in about 10 minutes, otherwise a slightly longer (but easy) walk along the road took about 15 minutes.
Only two (really minor in the scheme of things) gripes about the apartment - the shower leaked badly on to the bathroom floor, which involved a lot of mopping up with towels, and it would have been nice to have had bathrobes.
Our entire week in Positano was just perfect and we fully plan to return - I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Villa Fiorentino again. Mille grazie to the Fiorentino family for their hospitality.

Room Tip: The stairs are steep, so the Villa is no good for those who can't manage stairs (mind you, the s...

I have been lucky enough to stay in hotels around Positano and Sorrento in the past but always booked via a tour operator..
This was a completely DIY trip and it couldn't have gone more smoothly .. Entirely down to the Fiorentino family..
From my first correspondence in April to the last just before we arrived in September everything was "sorted"
Driver at the airport, complimentary fizz in the Villa, restaurant bookings taken care of - the lot..
Please read the other reviews - they reflect everything I would say myself..
We had the garden suite - this has 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms , kitchen and large lounge..that's more than enough for 2 of us..
Outside the terrace was beautifully planted and probably more stunning earlier in the year but we also had a spiral garden staircase leading to a private and not overlooked sun terrace..fantastic

On reading other reviews let me say this..

To those who have complained about service - this is a self catering Villa and not a hotel
We where accommodated at avert turn when we asked for help and yes our rooms where cleaned daily..

And as for steps

This is Positano - if you are here you know the score and will be walking everywhere..after all, it gives you more time to take it all in..
We are fit and touching 50
From the Villa to the beach is under 10 minutes and is through the alleyways of shops.
And the walk back you can follow the road - stop for a coffee if you like , window shop and avoid steps entirely until you reach the Villa.
There is also a free bus out of town that drops you right outside the Villa if you ask for stop number 6..

Thank you to all of the Fiorentino family - we have already been in touch to book for spring

I'm not sure I can find enough superlatives to describe the whole experience of staying here. The service from the moment I booked on line via Booking.com was exceptional. Communication was speedy and accurate; airport transfers efficiently arranged.
The Villa itself only comprises around 6 apartments each of which are individual and have superb terraces overlooking the bay - the good thing about VIlla Fiorentina in contrast to others on the other side of the bay - was that it retained the sun until late in the afternoon. We had the Sole apartment which had the most enormous external terraces with an amazing array of seats, tables, loungers etc to make yourself comfortable. There was also a full sun terrace and a shaded terrace with a plant covered pergola. The planting provide privacy between the various apartments. The rooms themselves were spacious with some lovely classical pieces of furniture. Technology was there took- iPod dock, flat screen tv, satellite plus the fastest wifi I've ever known in an hotel. Then there was the pool at rooftop level with excellent views.
But most special was the Fiorentino family whom we had the pleasure to meet and chat to. They are quite simply very special friendly people who were clearly particularly proud of their villa and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Some of the little personal touches they provided were just the icing on the cake of such a special holiday.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough - just book it you won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Apartment sole is excellent with fabulous external terraces

We rented the Sogno D'amore suite, which is the suite with the best view and largest terrace in the entire hotel. It is even better, cleaner, prettier & much bigger than in the pictures.
From the street to the villa it is a little under 100 steps up.
They tell you to prepare for a lot of steps and that is certainly true! But it is all worth it once you step out on the terrace very morning and see the beautiful view of Positano and the sea.
There is a market just across the street from the hotel. They are very helpful. The food is very fresh. We cooked in our kitchen 2x and ate on the terrace at sunset (sunset isn't quite visible from Positano. To see it you'd have to go to Prayno Beach, the next town over going south).
They provide cleaning service daily, new towels, and the kitchen is fully stocked with coffee maker, dish washer, dishes, etc..
There is also even a bus stop just a few meters down that goes around Positano and also goes to other amalfi coast towns and sorrento, naples & pompei.
The staff is helpful when you have questions, especially about transportation like buses & ferries. But Positano is meant to explore on your own and everything is very easy to figure out. Down at the harbor there are a bunch of boat tours to grottos, around the coast and the ferry goes to Ischia, an amazing island past Capri with volcanic hot springs spas. Definitely check it out. And the harbor is completely walking distance from the hotel, just about 10-15 minutes down the stairs of the Positano.
Sleeping was perfect - the doors in the villa block out the light so if you want to sleep in darkness and not be awoken by the sun, it is no problem!

I would 100% come back here and recommend it to anyone looking for the best vacation of their lives.

But if you have problems walking or going up the steps, then the town of Positano is probably not for you. You can't avoid steps even with the buses or walking around the windy roads. There's no way to get to the beach or the harbor without a lot of stairs.

Room Tip: Sogno D'amore is one of the higher-up suites but has the absolute best balcony and view.
