“Excellent place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

We stayed in La Quercia in October 2012 for 5 nights. This place was recommended by our friends staying there before.
Location: Tucked away in the mountains above Positano at the end of the road. Access to the Villa is going down 40 steps from the parking, through the village and another 50 steps down to the villa. We met our hostess Carmela at the parking and she bravely carried our luggage down to the house.
Rooms: Spacious, very clean with balcony and GORGEOUS view down to the coast and Positano. Pillows could be softer, to my taste. Room cleaned every day with bed and towels changes every three days.
Hosts: Carmela and Salvatore, very friendly, warm and helpful people, reasonably proficient in English – better than our Italian. Breakfast is plentiful with coffee, pastry, fruits etc
WI-Fi access downstairs win the lobby.
Services: Bus to Positano from parking lot with reliable service – half and hour ride. On the way to the parking there is a local grocery store, where you can buy discounted bus tickets, and pizzeria at the same location. Restaurant Santa Croce –trattoria, run by family with mom in the kitchen and two sons running the service - is absolutely excellent. Best food experience we had in the area, plus great view down to the coast. Easy access to Positano and from there boat services to Capri, Amalfi, Salerno and Sorrento.
We found boats as the main way of travelling around as local buses are not very accurate with schedules and usually quite busy.
There is a walking path – Sentiere degli Dei going through the village and up into the mountains towards Bomerano. Also you can go 1500 steps down to Positano.
In general, we enjoy the stay in La Quercia very much, very happy with the hosts and met some interesting people from all over the world while staying in Nocelle.
Grazie, Carmela e Salvatore!

the rooms were good and clean, each with private bathroom. but I don't reccommend this place for its position. It's on the top of a hill and parking can be a problem, you have to pay and it's not easy to find a parking.
it was difficult to reach Nocelle at night and the owner of the hotel was not very kind to us once we arrived cause he said it was too late.

Room Tip: the hotel is located on a hill, so Positano can be reached only by car. moreover the owner is not a...

We stayedin b&b Villa la Quercia for 4 nights(Sep 22-26,2012) and had a wonderful stay.
Salvatore and Carmella are wonderful hosts and very helpful with all kind of information.
They are only in the b&b in the morning for breakfast(but if you need them you can always call them).
And if you need a drink you are free to take some from the refrigerator in the common area and pay at the end of your stay.
The b&b has 9 rooms all have a small balcony with great views of Positano and coast line.
The room was comfortable and clean (daily cleaning)
Breakfast (fruit,fresh croissants,bread, toast,jam,nutella,juice,coffee and/or tea)is served on the main terras.

Nocelle is a tiny village perched on the hillside above Positano.Yes,it's a bit difficult to get there!
The road, via Montepertuso,is narrow and winding(like the whole Amalficoast!).
The road ends in Nocelle. Here are the yellow (for residents) and blue(paid parking 24h for visitors)parking spaces. But about 200 mtrs 'back'you can park along the road for free.(by the way parking is a problem anywhere along the Amalficoast)
From the carpark you have to walk to the b&b and descend about 50 steps too.But we knew about this and didn't bother.And.. this is the same situation for all the other b&b's in Nocelle too.

There is a good,on time busservice to/from Positano(every hour and late afternoon 1 bus in 2 hours)Just be aware of the bustimetable and you are fine!

One day we walked down the 1700 steps to Positano and took the bus back.
The other day we to the bus to Positano and went by boot to Capri.
There is also a bootservice from Positano to the towns along the coast.
We drove to Amalfi and Ravello with our rental car, which was fine (in sep!) because you are more flexible but again the road is very narrow, winding and in high season there are many traffic jams along this road.

As said Nocelle is a small rural village. It has 2 good restaurants.
We had dinner 4 times in the "Grotto"restaurant (the one who also owns the tiny village store).
Because we liked the food (good pizza's and pasta)and the setting (looked a bit like a cave and every evening dinner outside with great views of Positano by night)we didn't try the other restaurant (ristorante Santa Croce).

Positano,Amalfi ,Capri etc are very busy and touristic. They are beautiful places to visit but we were happy we stayed in La Quercia in Nocelle,a typical Italian village (and much cheaper!!),
felt like being part of the village residents!

We spent an amazing holiday in Villa La Quercia.
It was so romantic and idyllic, the view was just spectacular. The smell of fresh morning croissants and welcoming host-family who did everything and even more, made our stay unforgettable. We were also allowed to have our little dog with us. Everything you can see in the pictures is even more beautiful in the reality!
We recommend everyone this place. It is simply amazing!

If you are not afraid of walking and climbing stairs youll have a nice time in Nocelle, which is a pedestrian village...you'll be awake at cockcrow, and if not the bell of the church will do it

But don't let this put you off.....this place worth it ... Panoramic view better than 5 stars hotels, also the owners very sympathic and helpfull, you will not regret your stay, we can go back there again,we took the local bus, and if not, you have trattoria and pizzeria at your door...

SO enjoy your stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. We took the bus to and from Positano each day and found it reasonable to get to. This place is much more affordable than places in Positano and has absolutely lovely charm.
