“Stunning Views, Wonderful Hotel”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite upon arrival. The views from our private balcony were probably the best views in Positano, which overlook the entire town and ocean The hotel is about a 5 min walk into town, but being away from the "action" makes this hotel more unique, since the hotel is able to provide the guests a private beach. Wonderful breakfast spread and fantastic service. This hotel is not to be missed, as your pictures will be well worth the money spent for the luxury rooms.

Room Tip: don't be cheap and upgrade to a balcony room. They are well worth the extra cost.

My wife and I can't say enough about this hotel and its happy and helpful staff. In our opinion Positano is the gem of the Amalfi Coast and Marincanto is the gem of Positano. We stayed 5 nights in a spectacular room in the Villa to the left of the main building (looking towards the water)....beautiful garden patio overlooking the town and sea for morning coffee and evening aperitif - peaceful, private location in the hotel, airy, comfortable room, bed and bathroom. Hotel is a stroll up the hill, but the tranquility and view from the location is spectacular - and the walk was a nice time each day to explore the town. Infinity pool is breathtaking, dining patio is romantic and beautiful. From reception to breakfast to pool side, service was exceptional - grazie mille!! We walked through the other top hotels in town and were elated with our decision to stay at Marincanto.

The hotel was situated in a great location. Just a few minutes walk from the bus stations and town center. We had the superior double room, it came along with a balcony and the view was fantastic. There were also a lot of choices for breakfast in the morning, which was wonderful.

I regret to say that our experience with Hotel Marincanto was one of the worst we had throughout our trip in Italy. We had a horde of ants invading our room overnight. It was shocking. We had to pack our bags in panic because we didn't want them to crawl into our luggages. They were all over our bathroom (I suspect their nest is in there somewhere..) and they were crawling all over the bedroom.

We told the lady at the reception upon check-out (since we were only staying for one night and it happened overnight we couldn't do much..), however, there was no compensation. She did apologize though and she was very nice compared to most receptionists we came across throughout our trips. But this experience was definitely not worth EUR 150 per night!

Furthermore, we wanted to try their restaurant for dinner since we only had one night in Positano. However, I realize they don't give any priorities to their guests. (Usually hotels would at least make room for one or two tables for their hotel guests) We went up to the waitress in the restaurant to ask if they have any seats for us, and we received an abrupt answer - "Sorry, we are fully booked. No seats left." We didn't feel like that was a 4 star treatment. Hopefully the hotel can learn from their mistakes and improve their service to their customers.

My wife and I got to stay at this wonderful hotel with some friends. We were expecting great things and we got it. Rooms were basic and very clean and well appointed. The views were amazing. View from our balcony, restaurant, sun deck, pool were absolutely beautiful. Great friendly staff were very helpful. I think this place must have had the best views in town. Walks to town and back are short, but up steep hill. This was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, although it does come with a sizable price tag. Well worth it. The breakfast buffet every morning was very good, my wife says the coffee was great and the view from the deck where you have breakfast is awesome. I dream of a day I can return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Go for it, spend the extra money and get a room with the best view you can afford.

Spent 5 days at the Marincanto with our 2 kids aged 10 & 12. We fell in love with Positano and the Marincanto was a big reason why. The location is fabulous with abundant sea views. 5 minute walk down to the beach only adds to the appeal in my opinion. Infinity pool was a nice way to end the day as we spent most days on the beach. You need to reserve chairs at the beach. At first I found this odd but it is common practice, Locals rent their chairs for the entire season.
We stayed in a Family suite which was 2 separate rooms with an common hallway. At all times we felt safe and secure. There is a gas station to the immediate right of the hotel that has water, beer, wine. Unfortunately we found this on our last night. It would have saved us walks into town which usually resulted in me drinking a limoncello at every restaurant/bar I passed!

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. This hotel is modern and clean. It is perched above the sea and our room featured a balcony with amazing views. The hotel is multilevel and has a sundeck as well as an infinity edge pool. It also has a staircase that leads directly down to the beach. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again.

Perched on a cliff facing the Tyrrhenian Sea, this hotel with private access to the beach, offers breathtaking views of Positano's seascape. This was the trade off for choosing Marincanto over another hotel located in the city center. It's a good 15-min downhill and uphill climb between hotel and Centro with shops along the way and postcard perfect photo ops. With all the pasta and pizza you'll be having, you definitely need the walk. We stayed in the villa (thank you Marincanto for the upgrade!) and it was fantastic! Our huge private balcony was a regular spot to enjoy some aperitivo with an awesome view. The hotel is clean and well furnished. Breakfast daily was a decent spread. Staff and service were superb. Enza, the front desk staff/concierge, was very nice and helpful. We did great in choosing Hotel Marincanto as our home base for our 10-day visit to Positano/Amalfi Coast.

Room Tip: Villa 1 has the best view. The private balcony is likely bigger than the hotel's standard room.
