Of all the places I’ve stayed on vacation, the Marincanto goes to the very top of my list. The only regret was that we didn’t stay here at the end of our vacation as we compared all of our other hotels to our stay here and we could end up saying “It’s nice but it’s not the Marincanto!” The property both inside and out is everything we hoped for; the seaview from our balcony was breathtaking, our room was immaculate; breakfast was fantastic, service was excellent and there was nothing we asked that they did not accommodate us. Thank you Monica, Antonella, Franco and staff and a special thank you to Rita for being there each morning with a smile and our cappuccinos.

Let me start by saying....my husband and I have traveled to many places and stayed in many beautiful hotels. Yet, one of our fondest memories will be of Marincanto. This hotel has the kind of warm welcoming hospitaity that one would expect in Italy. Nothing was ever a problem for Antonella and the the staff. They went above and beyond to make our stay a total pleasure. We received the best insider info on restaurants, bus schedules, car service, and short cut directions around Positano. The impression is that the staff here really values their hotel guest by providing cheerful unstuffy service....somewhat treated like family.
The hotel and its grounds are the best position in Positano.....the views are mesmerizing. There are several places on the grounds that one can drink in the gorgeous vistas and totally relax. Everything is closeby to everything you need including the bus stop. The breakfast are generous and delicious with a wait staff of smiling faces, morning greetings, and special touches. Our large private suite was newly renovated, well appointed, and luxurious. We absolutely loved it! We could hear the sea from our balcony. Honeymooner Tip: The hotel was in the process of renovating a honeymoon suite....when that becomes available; it will be spectacular - huge Roman tub with large windows overlooking the sea! Totally romantic & private.
Truly, Marincanto is very special place that I will always recommend to friends and family. My husband and I hope to return to this perfect Positano retreat in our near future.

My partner and I just got back from a wonderful holiday in Positano - we stayed at Hotel Marincanto for 8 nights and we were very sad to leave!

We arrived about 12:30 at night so didn't really take much notice of room/view etc until the next day. We woke up in our standard double room - which was HUGE in comparison to other places we've stayed. The best bit was wallking out on to the large balcony, complete table and chairs, flowers growing outside around the walls and an AMAZING sea view with a great view of Positano off to the side.

Breakfast was one of the highlights - We ate outside each day overlooking the sea, surrounded by lemon trees - with a fantastic selection of coffees, cereals, fresh fruit, cheeses, meat and pastries (and even a special section for the more calorie conscious guests!).

The hotel was in the best location - a view of the sea and positanto, near restaurants and the beach, also a short distance from a SITA bus stop.

The pool/jacuzzi was lovely, we spent a lot of mornings just relaxing on the sun terrace and dipping in the pool - we occasionally had lunch/drinks at the hotel (without having to move from our sun loungers!) as the prices weren't too bad. We were made to feel welcome during our stay as all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Another big plus was that the hotel was very clean!

Why stay anywhere else?! We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Standard Double room was perfect (room 204)

The Marincanto more than deserves its four stars.... but mainly for what takes place outside, not in. The breakfast terrace was idyllic, the sun-deck excellent, the pool sublime and the views quite possibly the best in the whole of Positano.

The rooms, though, were a little bit of a disappointment. Decent size, but somewhat tired and under-furnished, with a bathroom that needed a slice of 21st century luxury. But all was forgiven the second you stepped onto the balcony and survey this corner of the Amalfi Coast...

Also, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and overall it represented decent value for money. Recommended if frills come a distant second to location and facilities.

WOW!! This hotel is perfect, do not stay anywhere else if you stay in Positano!!! I just got back and spent 3 nights here while on the Amalfi Coast. The location is the best in Positano. At the bottom of the stairs is the beach, which you can quickly walk the boardwalk to the heart of town. It may take less than 10 minutes. You can also walk down the hill on the road which is less than 15. There is a chic beach deck at the bottom of the stairs, it was not hopping at our visit, but I read in a guide book that it's a great scene with a bar and sun chairs. It's set up on concrete so "the ladies that like to wear heels" to the beach don't have any problems :) Music on the Rocks is at the bottom of the stairs too, we went it's a great club, carved out of rock, great DJ and you are just steps, well about 100 stairs from your room. There are multiple sun decks to use and the pool is beautiful. We stayed in a standard room which was spacious and had a wonderful terrace with a view of the hill of Positano. The ideal thing is that you are facing the hill, other hotels are located in town and are part of the hill which would be a disappointment as you would miss that post card view. Even if you don't stay here, find a hotel on this side of the hill. The Sita bus stop is less than a 5 minute walk which is VERY handy. We took a taxi from Naples for $90E but if you take the bus here it's great. Also when you travel to other towns it's great to take the ferry there and the bus back as they run later than the boats. DONT MISS RAVELLO and the Villa Cimbrione. I thought I died and went to heaven. If you only take one sightseeing trip out of Positano go here, or stay in Ravello for a night or two. I could not believe my eyes that there is a place this beautiful and utterly amazing. There is a hotel on the grounds, not sure of rates. We had lunch at Hotel Palumbo and the view is breathtaking!! Amalfi town is worth a 20 minute peek but then go right up the mountain. We also went to Sorrento, which was very beautiful and a fun small city. Sitting in cafes there is great and the shopping is wonderful. We had dinner in Positano at Le Sieranuse hotel, worth the price tag, strolling musicians, 400 candlelit terrace, very romantic. We also had dinner at Bruno, across from the hotel, nice meal and a great view. Enjoy your trip :)

We recently stayed here for a week in one of the superior rooms. I would recommend paying the extra to have one of these rooms so that you can ensure a balcony. The room was very large with a spectacular ocean view. I would highly recommend room 212 as it appears to have the only balcony that is situated on the side, which gives you an amazing view of Positano. The service is very good in this hotel and the staff are more than happy to accommodate any needs.

Room Tip: Room 212

After a hairy drive from Sorrento along the famous Amalfi coast we navigated (guessed) our way to the hotel (fyi to those driving here, keep going along the route through Positano going further up the hill and eventually you will see a sign and the hotel parking). Happy to give the keys to the valet and let him deal with the parking of our car we arrived in reception to be told the happy news that one room out of the 3 was to be upgraded. Hooray!.

We decided to sit on the beautful white terrace with a glass of rosé looking out to see to congratulate ourselves on making it to the hotel alive and sans car accident. The hotel is so tranquil and offers stunning views. Once our room was ready we checked in. A tip to any potential visitors, when booking ask room a room high up in the front building (above the sun lounger deck area) to get the best views of Positano, otherwise you might end up with a view of the roof top of the front building.

The hotel has a stunning infinity pool with jacuzzi and many spaces to catch the sun, all tastefully decorated. I wouldnt recommend the hotel for dinner (it was dead) but breakfast on the terrace (be it your own on the pretty hotel terrace) is a must.

A great value hotel with excellent views of the town.
