Albergo Punta Regina
Ranked #2 of 38 Hotels in Positano
Certificate of Excellence

My partner and I just returned from Positano, and stayed at the Punta Regina. This is a nicely appointed and very clean hotel with close proximity to all of Positano's attractions. The staff at the Punta Regina were knowledgeable, friendly and gave us first class treatment. Josephine and her team were incredible. From help with travel arrangements and recommendations for sightseeing, the staff made our 5 day stay very enjoyable and seamless. It is with ease that I would encourage anyone I know visiting the Positano area to stay at the Punta Regina. This hotel is far enough away from the attractions of Positano, but still easily accessible by foot.

The roof top patio was the ideal place to have a cocktail before dinner or to enjoy breakfast and plan your day. The room was spacious, well laid out, and boasted a fantastic view from its own private terrace. Every convenience was either in the room, or was made available upon request.

I'm thrilled we stayed at the Punta Regina. It helped make our stay in Positano truly a vacation to fondly remember.

Quiet location; a bit of a walk from town, but if you are looking for some healthy excercise and some quiet from the crowds (esp. in season), this hotel is wonderful. Good buffet breakfast on rooftop terrace with nice selections of fruits, yogurts, delicious freshly baked breakfast muffins/marmalade filled rolls, and omelettes to order. Friendly staff. We had Suite 36--the best room in Positano for the money! Extremely large room with huge walk-in closet, 2 bathrooms and large private ivy-laced terrace facing the sea. Quiet hotel. No restaurant, other than breakfast, but plenty of others in the area. We ate dinner every night at the Hotel Posa Posa--excellent other accomodation right up the road from this hotel. Posa has an excellent--far superior view--than you will find at almost any other hotel other than San Pietro in this area. The secondary beach for Positano is a brief walk away from Punta Regina--many steps to hike up and down, but this beach is far superior to the main beach in the town. Several restaurants and beach chairs/bathing decks--lovely area. If you want wide-open sand and unencumbered privacy, head to the Florida beaches. This area is tight in space, and the beach is pebbly and most uncomfortable--thus the bathing decks. Positano is a charming area--but has lost a lot of its magic in the last decade since we last visited. More lower middle class element now, which muddles the area with their loafing about on the steps and just plopping any where they see fit with their snacks, etc. All in all, we had a lovely 5 day visit to Positano. Thank you, Punta Regina.

Just returned from beautiful Positano and the elegant and comfortable Albergo Punta Regina. A family of four, we had a 3rd floor room with magnificent views. Our balcony was a good place to watch the sea and sky and our room even for four was large and beautifully appointed. Lovely bathroom, towels and linens unusually luxurious with bathtowels replaced all day long. The hotel was spotless and lovely in public areas and it was a delight every day to climb the stairs to the terrace and our morning cappuccinos. Very good continental breakfast with Gian Luigi ready with a smile and good advice for putting together another perfect day in Positano. Also suppled were large beach towels in a handy waterproof carry bag, which was a great convenience as we were out on the sea and swimming nearly every day of our 8-day stay.
Touring Capri, Pompeii, Amalfi and Ravello were wonderful. The hotel arranged it all for us.
We had extremely hot weather, in the 90s every day. Walking up and down throughout Positano was alot of work but the views everywhere are so breathtaking.... plus it helped to work off all the amazing food and the quantities of wine and rosoli we drank every night.
Local beaches were hot and crowded. Take a boat tour to see the fabled coast of Capri, rent kayaks and float around the grottoes and caves near the Positano beaches. Between positano and praiano was the most spectacular coast with rocks for diving and swimming but we swam twice at Li Galli, the islands just off the coast : heaven. Huge underwater cliffs dropping away underneath you. Bring swim goggles to really see the view.
The hotel is in a perfect location, up from the business and noise of the beach but not so far up that you need to take a bus. The buses were reliable and convenient but always bursting at the seams with passengers and if it was 90 outside it was 100+ in the buses.
Overall it was a fabulous week in a magical place. Hotel staff were wonderful. Michaela, Josefina and of course Gian Luigi took great care of us. Our one small complaint is that it would have been nice to have a pool on the hotel terrace, given the weather was so roasting and the beach no easy jog away.
Many great restaurants a stones' throw away, and bars too. It's hard to get a bad meal!
Up in the hills in Montepertusso is a great family place; La Tataglia; no menu, just course after course after course arriving at your table. For 30 euros apiece it's quite an experience.

My husband and I just came back from staying in Positano at the Punta Regina. We stayed their six nights. The hotel was beautiful and very clean! We enjoyed the fantastic view from our own private terrace. There is also a rooftop terrace for breakfast and cocktails. The staff of Gianluigi Scala, Benedetta, Michela, and Giuseppina were extremely helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our conversations with them throughout our vacation. They offered helpful suggestions on where to travel to during our stay. You will not regret staying at the Punta Regina!

I previously lived in Northern Italy for 5 years and have been back to Italy three times. This hotel (and Positano in general) was a positive experience overall. The rooms were incredibly spacious and clean. The service was excellent. I stayed in Room 31 (super deluxe) and the view from the balcony of the sea was spectacular. The staff consists of about 3-4, so you'll be on a first-named basis during your stay. They don't have a restaurant in the hotel (except for a buffet breakfast which was good), but no worries; there are several good to excellent places to eat dinner, all within walking distance of your hotel. Positano has a good local and distant transportation (bus) system to take you around town or to the various nearby coastal cities. I would stay here again without hesitation.

My husband and I spend four wonderful days at the Punta Regina in mid April, which we found to be an ideal time on this coast due to the lack of crowds.

The hotel was in a great situation with wonderful views, big rooms ,very good bathroom and breathtaking breakfast terrace, especially if you get there early for the alcove table with the best view in Positano. The staff were all charming and extemely helpful, giving us running weather reports and giving plentiful advice on restaurants ,ferries etc. We did not have the best weather while we were there, but with the staff's help we were able to make good choices of what to do in the area.We always enjoy staying in smaller personalised hotel . This one did not let us down and we would love to return with our grown up children some time.

The lack of swimming pool did not worry us at all as we were not there for a beach type holiday anyway. We found all the nearby restaurants to be very good and ventured up and down the coast every day in our car, returning at the end of the day to our lovely room.Retrieving our car from the garage was never too much trouble for Luigi, and having a parking space was essential. If arriving by car ,take special note of the exact location of the hotel as the road is one way and very narrow, so if you miss it first time round it is a considerable distance back again.

We look forward to a return visit

We have just returned from 8 glorious nights in this hotel. The location is perfect - about half way between the beaches and the top of the town, which means that you can get away from the crowds and experience some views which you may not bother to find if you're in a beach hotel. The views of the sea and town are sublime. We paid for a 'Superior Double' room which was on the 3rd floor (2nd if you're a Brit!). The size of the room was amazing, with a massive bed, lots of wardrobe space, and a sofa, dressing table etc. The balcony offered fantastic views and was large enough for a table and 2 chairs - some of the other hotels offer 'standing room only'. If expense is really no object, go for one of the rooms with a terrace on the floor below - although you'd probably never bother to leave the hotel at all then! Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, there are any number of good ones within walking distance, so it really doesn't matter. An extremely good continental style breakfast is served from 8am to 11am each day on the roof terrace (breathtaking views) and the service here in particular is fantastic. You can have a cooked breakfast at an extra charge. The staff were all amazing and offered a perfect combination between professional service and a friendly welcome - we felt like friends by the end of our stay and were on first name terms. They are very helpful when it comes to booking trips and have a wealth of knowledge about where to eat and what to do. We've stayed in a lot of good 4* and 5* hotels where the service has been excellent but very corporate - this hotel offers the same level of excellence but makes you feel like they are paying attention to you as an individual. I thought that because we could have gone to the Maldives for what we paid for a week in Italy I might have resented the money spent, but I didn't and I'd definitely go there again.
