We were 5 couples from Seattle that took over Casa Maresca. There are a total of 5 rooms/apts, one upstairs near street level and 4 downstairs with large continuous deck. We used all except for the last bottom room. The A/C was great and the rooms were clean and good sized. This is not a five star place, but you get a lot more than you pay for at a comparably priced hotel.
The upstairs apartment was a two bedroom with a nice kitchen with wonderful views. We all usually convened there for breakfasts and daily planning. The large deck below was a great place for an evening wine and discussion of the days events. It is a bit of a hike to get around, but then again everywhere in Positano is a hike- we preferred going down to the western beach for swimming and sun bathing. A little less crowded and they have all the services you may need. A short walk either way on the main road gets you to a nice array of cafes and restaurants.
Lucia and Paul were fantastic and unobtrusive hosts. They helped with transportation, boat charters and restaurant recommendations - Lucia even did a load of laundry for us, which was welcomed after a week or so of travel.
We loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat.
