“Hotel Reginella - Overall Outstanding Experience”
Reviewed August 10, 2009

We stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Reginella. Our room was large and clean - comfortably accomodating me, my wife and our two teenagers. The view of the sea from our balcony was incredible, The bathroom was large, elegantly tiled and included a large open shower with very good water pressure. Air conditioning worked great - allowing for a cool nights sleep. The hotel also accomodated my sister and her family of 5 in a small 2 bedroom apartment located a few steps from the hotel. The apartment shared the cleanliness and views of our room.

The staff was very accomodating particularly the owner, Tony, who helped us with all kinds of plans and reservations once we arrived, Tony's restaurant recommendations were first rate. The staff was very responsive to our emails in advance of our visit.

Breakfast daily was very good with fresh baked (at the hotel) pastries, fruit, cereal, juices, meats, cheeses and excellent coffee and cappucino. There is a small bar in the lobby and drink prices are pretty reasonable - we enjoyed a cocktail on the balcony each evening.

The location was very good - seemed like it was about 1/3 to 1/2 way up the hill.

We were pleased to stay at this hotel and will do so again the next time we visit Positano.

Stayed at the reginella for 3 nights and loved every minute. Great location and nice walk to the beach and restaurants. The room was large with a nice balcony overlooking the sea and town. The views are amazing! The bathroom was large and clean also with a great view. Breakfast was good and the nice waitress made us espresso coffee every morning.

Stayed here in the height of summer 2008, and we had a room on the top floor overlooking Positano. This is possibly one of the best balconies I have ever had the pleasure of sitting on. Wonderful views and a nice large room. Breakfast was great for an Italian hotel and the coffee molteo bene. Thanks for a wonderful stay would recommend it. A little difficult to find the road that heads down the mountain from the main bus road, but thats all part of the fun in Italy!

The owners are so nice, they gave us excellent restaurant recommendations (especially the one in Monte Pertuso), always there for questions, help, etc. They booked for us the restaurants and a tour to Capri. Hotel is extremely clean with a great view. Well located, right in front of the local bus stop which is convenient when you come in with the luggage.

Wow! this place was amazing! my partner and I stayed at la reginella in positano for a week and it wasn't nearly long enough! I highly recommend this place, our room had the most amazing view and it was huge! our shower was a double and also huge!

Tonino (owner) and his family were more than helpful and if it weren't for their personal advice we wouldn't have enjoyed it half as much! they gave us a name of thier friend who had a beach and charged less than half than the other main beach and it was much nicer!

our day trip to Capri was one of the best days i've had, Tonino organised a private traditional italian boat to take us over there, it's not too much more money and well worth it. The boat stops at the Grotta Azzuro which you must go inside for a look it's breathtaking! beware though we ended up paying a little more than expected when we came out!

you must go to positano and stay here, it's a true italian paradise!

At the end of our trip, we called from Naples to find a room available. We stayed for two nights, the first on the lower floor without a great view. The next night we got an apartment on the second floor . It had a private entrance from the street and we spent hours on our balcony absorbing the views and enjoying the wine. The room was cozy and the hotel operators were delightful and spoke English. We would return in a minute.

Hotel Reginella is one of the few places in Positano (and Italy in general) that can accommodate a family of 5.
The Hotel room we booked was on the top floor. It had a double bed and 3 singles. The mattresses were hard or lumpy but that seems to be the norm in Italy. It had a lovely bathroom and the balcony was small but the views were marvellous. Breakfast was included in our booking and was quite good. You could have toast, croissant, various spreads, tea or coffee and the kids had hot cocoa.
The staff were reserved but friendly I guess. They organised a minivan to take us to Rome airport the next day. It was expensive but saved us so much time and energy given the struggle we would have had with all the luggage & the kids catching unpredictable public transport.
Our only problem resulted from actually getting there. We got off the train coming from Sicily at Salerno. We waited for the bus to Amalfi and then had to get off and scramble onto another bus to Positano. The bus was packed & getting on was a bit cut throat for us & the kids. We missed the earlier bus to Positano b/c we got delayed B/c a tourist bus got stuck on the narrow road. Our bus couldnt get past! It was night by the time we got to Positano we had no idea where to get off & hoped the bus driver was going to tell us. He did remember but it was a very long walk from the stop with all our luggage. It was quite a low point. Later we found out it was the right stop b/c the 2nd stop was actually further & would have been more treacherous with bags b/c it had virtually no footpath.

  • Liked — It could accommodate 5 and the view was superb.
  • Disliked — It was difficult to get to with luggage & if using public transport.
