Wow what a wonderful place to stay. the warm and helpful greeting you get from Melania is first class. She evens carries your bags for you. the views are out of this world and makes the steps all worth while. the rooms are very comfortable and everything is very clean . As well as eating out in a couple of the great restaurants in the village we cooked while we were there in the well equipped kitchen and Melania even gave us a large basket of fruit and veg from her own garden. she organised trips for us and made our honeymoon a fantastic experience. I can highly recommend Mama Rosa and we will definitley be going back.

Staying at B&B MAMA ROSA was a real treat!!! When we reserved the stay, I figured it was a small complex but had no idea we would be getting such royal accommodations!!!

When we arrived, we realized that we were staying in renovated the family home of the owner! We (me & my fiance in our late 20's/early 30's, and my parents) occupied both rooms they had, with two baths, a living area, 2 porches, and a full kitchen! This place was bigger than our Atlanta condo! It was great to have such a larger area to sprawl out & relax & have a late night glass of wine! The place was beautifully renovated & sparkling clean too!!!

It is about 8-10 minutes by bus from Positano's main touristy area/and the beach but totally worth it! We could do dinner in town & catch the 10:00 bus back up to the B&B. There are a bunch of steps to climb, but are well lit at night & we were helped with our awfully heavy luggage.
For hikers, it was a great place to start numerous hikes up the mountain too!

Aside from the stay, the family is amazing!!! We were offered a family cooked dinner (4 courses) with the family's own wine! It was such a special Italian experience & SO good!! Angelo, the son, was so great & so helpful from getting us info. on hiking trails to recommending the best restaurants!

Amazing! I'd recommend MAMA ROSA's B&B to anyone!

We had the most amazing time staying here. We stayed for 2 nights but could have easily stayed longer. The view and the facilities are fantastic and will leave you speechless. Meticulously clean and comfortable B&B. It is in a very quiet and peaceful location on top of the mountain overlooking the sea. The B&B owner, Angelo, is very helpful and polite. I will definitely book again next time we are here!!! The only downside of our stay was having to leave!

Mama Rosa's has given us some of the best memories of our trip. Angelo met us for assistance with our bags and up the stairs we went wtih beautiful views from the mountain top with coastal Positano below, as well as charming gardens along the way. The beautifully renovated two bedroom/2 bath, living/dining room, kitchen and balcony gave the 4 of us plenty of room to relax and enjoy the sunrise and set. Mornings greeted us with warm croissants and homemade jams, and their homecooked italian dinner was so delicious I'm already trying to recreate it. Angelo was extremely helpful with all the tips we would need from nearby restaurants to bus schedules up and down the mountain. Our stay was more like being with family than a hotel. Highly recommended to anyone that can handle stairs. New Orleans/Atlanta

We stayed at B&B Mamma Rosa for 3 nights, we should have stayed for more. Agree that the place is a bit difficult to reach and the 229 steps intimidating; but this is a small price to pay for the service (the best we had in Italy) and a view to die for. The room was the largest we had in our Italy trip, and the washroom (though not en-suite) was larger than some of the rooms that we stayed in. Angelo was the perfect host, he received us at the bus stop and helped with our luggage over those daunting steps. I had a case of severe food poisoning in Positano, he was kind enough to give a medicine which helped heal it quickly. He even helped us reserve ferries to Capri and his restaurant recommendations were spot on.

But, what we'd take away (apart from the awesome views) was a simple home cooked meal that Angelo and his mom cooked for us - pasta, vegetables, bruschetta and aubergines; one of our most memorable meals in Italy. We'd surely come back to this place and would recommend this wholeheartedly to anyone planning a trip to Amalfi.

Melania and Angelo have certainly built a cosy, warm and homely place.

The most incredible views and the warmest welcome we experienced in Italy ! An unexpected delicious home cooked meal was prepared for us by Mamma Rosa the evening we arrived. Fresh baked croissants , homemade jellies , meat, cheeses..each morning. Our host , Angelo ,,, ,was a wealth of information! He gave us so many insights and superb places to see and dine in romantic Positano! Angelo gave freely his time and treasures. We were sad to leave and can't wait to return to B&B Mamma Rosa! We arrived as guests and left as friends! Every picture you so see is exactly what you will experience! We know you will fall in love with this charming B&B!!! Joanne and Tim Conte

Room Tip: There are only two beautiful rooms at Mamma Rosa's, so you will get one or the other!! Sorry co...

I stayed at B&B Mamma Rosa for 3 nights in Sept. 2012 and have nothing but great compliments. At first I was worried that the location was a bit too far off from the town center- Mamma Rosa is located in Montepertuso, which is technically like a town next to Positano's main center. However upon arrival and seeing the magnificent view from our room I actually felt a bubble of affection for my boyfriend who made the reservations for this place :-) The 200 steps leading to Mamma Rosa was definitely worth it! (If you're travelling by car, I would advise bringing an overnight bag to carry the stuff you immediately need, and leave the rest in the car)

The host, Melania, was very kind, helpful, and also very good at English. She introduced us to a great restaurant nearby named Il Ritrovo, whose octopus appetizer was so good we went there twice in 3 days. The B&B is very cozy and makes one feel at home, rather than a hostel. The bathroom although not ensuite, is right across the hall from our room and was also very clean with plenty of hot water, which I find important. Melanie only takes two groups of guests at a time (there are 2 rooms & 2 bathrooms), so you can enjoy a quiet stay.

It was simply the best choice for seeing Positano and other nearby towns like Amalfi, Ravello, etc. The town center can be easily arrived by the town bus- for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere I highly recommend Mamma Rosa.
