First class operation...beautiful setting, amazing gardens. Every employee treats you as if you were the only guest. Impeccable service. Beautiful views from any area. Food outstanding! Don't bother to eat anywhere else in Positano. Beautifully appointed rooms. Be sure to try the drink called Elephants Milk-very refreshing

Room Tip: The concierge offered us a choice of two rooms upon arrival

We could not be more pleased with our INCREDIBLE experience at Il San Pietro. Our family stayed here for a week in May 2014 and could not have been more pleased with our experience. It was, in a word, magical. From the accomodations to the staff, everything was perfect, and exceeded our expectations in every way. It's difficult to imagine a finer resort existing anywhere in Italy, let alone on the planet!! The concierge and all the hotel staff were unbelievably hard-working, kind, and ready to help at a moment's notice. Our baggage was lost at the airport, and though that could have provided a terrible start to the trip at any other hotel, the front desk at Il San Pietro worked tirelessly on our behalf to arrange the bag's prompt arrival. We simply told them of the problem and they immediately went to phone the airline and hurry along the shipping process. Every interaction with the staff was simply a marvel. Their integrity and reliability are at the highest level. Then, there's the matter of the food, which was exquisite. The Michelin rated restaurant is not to be missed. Every morning's breakfast was divine. And the beach restaurant was fabulous, too - the vegetables and fruits were so fresh, it was unreal. We barely went into town because staying in the hotel was too wonderful! The rooms themselves were so beautiful - we had three, and each was decorated in its own style. From the sparkling clean bathrooms with bathtub views of the ocean, to the gorgeous private balconies and the handpainted tile in the bedrooms, I was thoroughly impressed. It was difficult to leave. There is no question that we enthusiastically, without doubt, highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone who visits the Amalfi Coast and wants a once-in-a-lifetime luxury experience.

We stayed 5 days. The only downside of our experience is that the pool bar stops serving food at 5 pm and the restaurant opens at 8 pm. Four-thirty is too early for dine, and 8 is too late for us, so we ate in Positano at the beachfront restaurants every night where we could eat at 6:30or 7:00, so it worked out OK for us. Everything else about the hotel is absolutely 5 star. The rooms, the view, the terrace bar, the service. Top notch in every way. The free shuttle to "town" and back is fast and easy. And the water-taxi ($20 each way) is a fun way to get to the waterfront of Positano without going down all those steps and then up, up,up all those steps after dinner. We have stayed at many of the best hotels in the world. This is definitely one of them.

Everything the most effusive reviews of the il San Pietro are true. I'll try to be additive and not repetitive:

1. The location cannot be beat. Don't for a second let the slight remove from Positano center dissuade you. The shuttle van runs 24/7 and gets you there within five minutes. We never waited more than five minutes for a return pick-up. More, the drivers were invariably friendly and helpful. To us the slight remove from the bustle was a plus, especially given the amenities (private beach!) that come with that remove.

2. The beach. Holy cow. My wife and I kept saying "this doesn't seem real." It doesn't.

3. The staff is unbelievable. Somehow they manage the delicate balance between incredibly responsive and helpful and overbearing. We never felt like someone was hovering, but we also never had to go looking for assistance. And everyone was wonderfully friendly in a very genuine way.

4. The ambiance: This is an interesting one. Inside it is elegant - probably a bit too much so for our tastes (late 30s/early 40s). Outside is much more laid-back, especially at the beach and the beach restaurant.

5. One more minor point: if you like to have a decent gym available, stay here. It is small but entirely functional with (again) excellent staff.

travelled during easter. it was rainy and a bit cold considering we are in the south of italy. i was keeping telling myself: so what? the place is stunning. if you are so lucky to get one of the suite room you probably do not want to move from the room the whole day. the hotel owner makes you feel at home (a luxury home indeed). the hotel operations director welcome you at dinner every night like you are entering a gala ball. the view from the hotel is something you will always remember no matter where you travel or go around the world. the people who work there are simply amazing. i want to go back to stay there when the hotel is in full motion ( we couldn't go to the beach due to the weather) .yes it is expensive but since it is one of the thing you have to do before you...then it is worth. ps. the restaurant close to the beach is terrific for casual lunch

After our baby boy, now almost 2, was born, my wife and I haven't taken a meaningful vacation together in almost 3 years. As with any growing family, we had succumbed to the joy of life but a bit of neglect in our marriage. It was imperative that we spend some time together to reconnect and, of course, recharge our batteries.

We couldn't have found a more romantic location to make this happen. Positano and the Almafi Coast are a sight-to-be-seen.,,pictures won't do it justice. Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places in the world. The people living here make it even more beautiful with their friendly nature and positive attitude (every business in the area has been passed down from generation to generation). It rained while we were there, and almost everyone apologized on the behalf of mother nature for the poor weather...we couldn't understand why?

Which brings me to Il San Pietro. The BEST hotel in the area. Do not stay anywhere else. Located about a 5 minute drive just outside of the main village (24/7 free shuttle service, mostly private, to and from town) the hotel is situated on top of a cliff, offering breath-taking views of the town and the sea.

The service was top notch from every aspect of the hotel...check-in, restaurants, room service...everything was impeccable. The food was just what you'd expect from a one-star Michelin restaurant...you haven't eaten pizza till you've eaten pizza in Positano (this coming from a New Yorker). If there was one complaint, I would say the bed was a bit soft for my taste, but that's just a personal preference.

To summarize, the trip and the stay at Il San Pietro was well worth the price for a small investment in what will be lifetime together with my wife. We came back fully rested, and more in love than ever.

Room Tip: If you aren't afraid of heights, ask for a room on the cliff without any garden in front of the...

We have stayed in many Relais-Chateaux but Il San Pietro di Positano has been the best experience EVER!
The staff is really great. It's like a big happy family and it shows. They are happy to work in this little paradise and to include customers in their happiness.
Not going to comment on the hotel itself: breathtaking place, fantastic room with nice terrace (and incredible view)... just read previous comments, add them all together and you'll have a small idea of the fabulous place!
Honestly, you won't find a better place in Southern Italia - and probably in Italia (including the Relais & Chateaux Hotel Syrene in Sorrento (15 miles from there) where we went too.
Worth every penny!!!
