This villa lived up to its reputation on TripAdvisor. A few cautions - we took the bus from Amalfi at night (there were delays) and had no idea where to get off in Positano. Mario says it's called Chiusa Rosa, meanwhile this seems to ring no bells with the driver or anyone else! We wound up taking a taxi from one part of Positano to the other at the end of a day of 7 hour travel from Rome. So plan to arrive in the daytime at least. It does take a few days to get your bearings and learn that you do not need to take the 400 steps up from the beach, but can more easily walk to the main beach and take the gently sloping road back home. There are plenty of restaurants and ferried to Capri and Sorrento and elsewhere. We alternated days at the beach with traveling around. Room, though it had a partial view only, was great - very comfortable and super clean. Family is helpful. However...

One sour note - we asked the hotel owner's son to help with booking our return train tickets to Rome from Naples. The trenitalia site is very difficult to negotiate for non Italians like us. He readily agreed. I corrected him once about the date of departure. To our shock, when we got to the train, we found out he had booked the wrong day! We were forced to spend an additional 86 Euros! When we pointed this out to the owner, he refused to take any responsibility. Our point of view is that he should offer to pay at least 1/2 as it was his son's mistake and caused us a lot of inconvenience.

Room Tip: ask for full view if available, but partial view was not really a problem.

Had a fantastic time in LA Rosa Dei Venti. Would recommend staying in the Grecale room which has uninterrupted views of the ocean with beautiful boganvillas surrounding the balcony.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was large and very clean. Overall the location is great, close to the restaurants and in walking distance to the shops away from the busy main area. Breakfast is served in your room and is substantial. Extras can be ordered such as bacon and eggs.

The closest beach with cafes is 400 steps down but if you are not into that the main beach is probably a 15 minute walk.

Nice and helpful staff, beautiful rooms, an amazing view from the balcony and nice and quiet in the evening.
A lot of steps from the beach and up, that's free exercising in the afternoon. A glass of chilled white vine tastes lovely on the terrace after the "training".
We surely want to come back some other year

We arrived on the bus from Amalfi for the 2nd part of our tour along the Amalfi coast. We did struggle to find La Rosa Dei Venti, we must have looked very lost as a local asked if were ok and directed us perfectly! Coming from Amalfi get off at the 2nd bus stop, the first will be quite a walk.
Having read other reviews we were aware that the man on reception does not speak much English but how anyone could struggle I do not know! He spoke enough and check in was easy, he showed us personally to our room and explained how breakfast worked.
We were able to choose our room upon booking (we choose Libeccio )and it was not a disappointment, it was just like the photos on their website. The sea view from the balcony was worth every penny, just beautiful. The room and bathroom were very large, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge to use as well.
You choose what you would like for breakfast and at what time by using a card that you then hang outside your door in the evening. A good selection and you can pay extra for eggs and bacon etc, the fruit bowl is worth paying for, a gorgeous selection enough for 2. It was bought to us promptly by a very friendly lady and taken out to the balcony. I don’t think we have ever had breakfast in such a beautiful setting.
La Rosa Dei Venti is in a quieter part of town but easily reached by foot to the main part, 10 minutes I would say but plenty to see along the way.
The beach is very easy to reach, the steps are right outside the entrance. Lots of steps so do be warned but a very nice, quiet beach once you get there. We knew Positano isn’t a huge place so we used the time for the relaxing part of the holiday and spend a day at the beach. Sunbeds very reasonably priced and includes the use of changing rooms and toilets. There are a few bars/restaurants so plenty of choices for lunch, a very pleasant place to relax for the day. La Rosa Dei Venti can give you beach towels and do not charge.
We had a lovely meal at Café Positano, we were lucky enough to sit on the terrace with a wonderful view out to sea. We found a supermarket in town for drinks, snacks etc.
We found 2 nights to be enough in Positano and do recommend it as a place to stay to recharge your batteries. We had a wonderful stay, could not fault a thing and would definitely book again.

We stayed at La Rosa Dei Venti for 4 nights at the start of our trip to the Amalfi Coast. When first booking this hotel I had initially booked a partial sea view - upgrading to the full sea view was one of the best decisions I've ever made! If you're staying here you absolutely must have a sea view, eating your breakfast out on the terrace with the breathtaking view every morning is rather special indeed. The breakfast itself is nothing wow, croissants and bread but the coffee is decent. We ordered extra fruit for €4 and the bowl is massive, we kept some the fridge and it lasted a couple of days. We also bought local wine from a shop and enjoyed it on our terrace before heading out in the evening.

Yes there are a lot of steps down to the beach but after the amount of pizza and pasta we ate we were rather grateful for them! There is a road route back if you don't fancy taking the steps back up to the hotel, it's through the town so a bit longer (approx 15 mins) but we opted to do this after lazing on the beach every day.

The staff were helpful and the rooms were nicely decorated in traditional Italian style. The beds were very firm, we did not find them comfortable at all but all the walking made us so tired each night that we managed to sleep fine.

The best restaurants in our opinion are up near the top of Positano as you're walking from the hotel down past the church, if you were staying down past there you may miss this part of the town which we thought to be much nicer to spend the evening in.

I would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Positano.
