“Amazing stay in Positano, Italy”

What an amazing little hotel, nestled on the top of the cliff in Positano , with magical views, very friendly staff and such a friendly family atmosphere. Really felt like home ! Villa Franca is very tastefully decorated. The shuttle runs timeously every half hour down to the village.

Room Tip: Definitely seaview.

We booked 3 superior rooms for a party of six adults, on arrival we were informed that we were being transferred to a different hotel as they had double booked!!! The hotel staff were quite rude in their approach and did not seem at all worried, we got the impression that this happened on a regular basis. The booking was made and paid for back in February so cannot understand why they did not notify us and refund our money. Not happy at all.

Our frist trip to Italy and after much research on the internet I chose Villa Franca for its beauty and location... I was aware that another review said they were overbooked and moved them to another hotel, but i didnt think it would happen to us...Well when we arrived from Naples airport and drove an hour and half on a very scenic but scary road, we were told they are overbooked and set us up in another Hotel, 5 star Hotel with upgrade.... down on the beach ( which I didnt want) but ....Totally confused and didn't want our driver to leave we hurried down to the location where the cars stop and you must walk all the way down to beach area, shops and restaurants. The porter took our luggage via golf cart and the hotel was extremly lovely and indeed we entered a new beautiful suite facing the ocean! That was for only one night and we were moved to a small room with a small balcony... my travel agent credited us the difference but what an disappointing and upsetting time we had in such a breathtaking beautiful place ....BEWARE of Villa Franca!

We stayed in six hotels throughout Italy. This place was by far the worst. When we arrived, the ac in our room was not working and the refrigerator had leaked all over the floor. Instead of apologizing we were told (with an attitude) that it was working before we got there. During our stay, they lost power two times, the internet does not work in the rooms and is sporadic in the lobby. The breakfast was mediocre at best (compared to the other places where we stayed).

The pool area is so small that if you go in the afternoon there is no chance of getting a chair. If my travel agent had not done such a great job with the other locations, I would never use her again simply because she booked us into this place.

Positano is a beautiful place, but this hotel almost ruined it for us.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June and loved it. The front desk staff were business-like and provided everything we asked for but no more. The staff at the pool bar were very friendly and helpful who went out of their way to make you feel special. We probably had the worst room in the place and I don't have a complaint. We were lucky there was no one in the next room as both rooms open onto the same terrace and this could have been problematic. The rooms on the top floors with views over Positano looked absolutely magnificent. Be warned, however, the magnificent views from the pool area come at a price- almost 1000 stairs! The hotel has a regular shuttle to the town centre but we loved the walk. You can see the hotel from all over Positano and you can pick it out in most of the postcards as well. The breakfast room opens out onto the ocean and mountains and is breathtaking. The coffee is great and there is a good selection of food. We didn't eat at the restaurant. I would return to Villa Franca without hesitation but would probably pay the extra and upgrade to a better room.

Room Tip: Higher floors with balcony overlooking the town have spectacular views. The basic rooms are close t...

Villa Franca offers one of the most beautiful and iconic Positano views. Incredible. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed; the included breakfast was lovely - so many choices from sweet to savory. My friends and I had a room with a balcony; we kept the door open at night to hear the ocean as we slept - heavenly. Stay here - you won't be disappointed!

It was one of those decisions that take one second to be made. One of my dreams is to visit the Amalfi Coast, she said. Let's go this Friday, I answered. Decision made, I looked up the hotels the hotels in Positano and set a few parameters like star rating, restaurant, style, renovation, position, view and swimming pool, parking. Hotel Villa Franca ticked all the boxes so we booked and set sails (wheels) in the direction of Positano on a Friday after work.
We had some food on the road and got there after dinner. We were warmly received by the hotel staff who took our luggage and our car and escorted us to our room. A comfortable room with an Amazing view over Positano, its bay and its beach. When we opened the window and the fairy tale landscape entered the room and made us feel special.
The room, even though not very large, had all the necessary amenities and a comfortable and nicely decorated bathroom with bathtub. The style of the hotel is typical/classical with a modern twist in so much as the furniture and the materials used feel like quality and well chosen. The bed is large and comfortable and there is enough room for two small/medium suitcases.
After a shower, we went down to the bar to enjoy our Amalfi experience and the hotel concierge doubled as barman to serve us some drinks. He was extremely kind and, friendly and respectful and made an effort to make us feel at home. We decided to enjoy our drinks on one of the balconies of the restaurant, overlooking the beach of Positano. The magic of the place and the magic between us was a perfect mix to give us the start of a life changing experience. We spent a couple of hours between the restaurant balcony and the roof terrace bar by the swimming pool, telling as much a s we could about each other and tumbling down in our emotions and feelings until we were exhausted and went to sleep. Breakfast the next day, we sat near the balcony with a breathtaking day view of the bay. Food was fresh and could satisfy the needs of most, with an assortment of sweet and salty, from typical paistry to contintal breakfast and fruit, together with teas and coffees. One of the waitresses was a bit loud in her interaction with customers, but if we interpret it as the local warmth, things become more acceptable.
Breakfast done, we headed to the swimming pool upstairs, admittedly not very large if you are a swimmer but comfortable to wash down the heat of the summer sun and stay sun bathing as long as you want. The sunbeds available are not many so it's a good idea to make your way early. So, after a while, we decided to make our way to town and find a restaurant and see the beach. The walk down was pleasant, stopping every corner to kiss each other and feel each other's arm around our waist. We stopped for lunch at the outstanding Palazzo Murat (separate review on this) and walked casually in the little roads of Positano to the Cathedral where a wedding was taking place. I must admit that the atmosphere was seductive and you might be tempted to make a proposal there and then.
We took the hotel's shuttle back to the hotel, which is located by the pharmacy and easy to reach and were back home after a tour of the Whole town.
Showers and back on the road fo the evening dinner, back to the Palazzo Murat. The last shuttle of the evening took us back to the hotel, back to the intimacy of our room where something special was taking place.
We left the hotel the next day, after spending some time by the pool and a fine lunch.
The location, the staff and the two of us made this trip a life changing experience and gave us reasons to come back, hopefully for a long time to come.
