Ignore people who say this hotel is too far from the beach or town centre. It is in a great location about 1/3 of the way up the hill - just far enough away to be out of the noisy area close to the beach, but close enough to walk up and down many times to restaurants, shops etc. The staff are friendly and helpful and most speak good English. It is a good quality 4 star hotel!

We stayed four nights at Poseidon. Angelo greeted us and was very helpful-he went above and beyond whenever we spoke to him. The place is beautiful, overlooking Positano and is very clean. The rooms are nice with terraces. There is a rooftop bar and pool where you eat very good breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and helpful which is unusual in Italy. They helped with tips and booking various excursions and we were very happy with our whole experience. It is within easy walking distance of many restaurants right up the road. The bathrooms are updated with lots of hot water. There is a restaurant in the hotel as well which we didn't use other than for the free breakfast which was a great spread of eggs, fruit, bread, etc and good coffee. I would go back here in a minute. Positano is great, much better than Amalfi-clean and quaint. The roads around there are scary however so beware when driving. You get a bit of road noise as all the hotels are on the main road. That was our only complaint but one that couldn't be avoided at any hotel in the area because of the physical layout of Positano. You have to buy Internet time but it was Euro 15 for three days which seemed like an OK deal compared to other hotels.

Stayed here for the final week of our honeymoon. Wasn't a fan of Positano to be honest but this hotel was just amazing. Beautiful room with a generous balcony with sea view. Room was very spacious and bathroom of a great size. Bed was very comfortable and had a great sleep. Breakfast was plentiful and service wonderful. At night theres a bar with very friendly staff and a pianist. Perfect way to end the evening after dining in the nearby restaurants.

Staff are reception are worth a mention also - very helpful and friendly. They even organised a complimentary bottle of prosecco for us to celebrate our marriage.

While we don't plan to return to Positano too soon this hotel could lure us back, really enjoyed our time there

We have stayed in many hotels in Italy, but the Poseidon made us feel the most at home: a quiet relaxing lounge with a fireplace and American newspapers, staff that is genuine and friendly without the condescending attitude of many hotel staff, food like my mother cooks, clean as could be, a romantic setting, and the energy and devotion of a family.

Unfortunately, we had to emergently leave Positano to come back to the USA. The front desk arranged a car/driver to drive us 300km to Rome with 10 minutes (at 5am) notice to make a quick flight. They treated us like we were their family and we truly appreciated this.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon, and this was a VERY disappointing experience. It's possible that we just had a bad room (Rm 28), though we paid extra for an ocean view. The "ocean view" had a view if you craned your head to the left of the balcony. The room was adequate, not what you would expect from a $300+ room a night off season. It was extremely noisy - we could hear every door slamming and two different mornings I had to get out of bed at 6 am to ask the hotel staff to please keep it down. The pool area has a gorgeous view, but you feel like you have to be silent and the pool itself is freezing. Make sure you realize this this hotel is UP THE HILL in Positano, do not stay here if you do not want to get a healthy walking workout a few times a day.

I am not a high maintenance traveler, but expected a lot more for my honeymoon and from such a highly rated hotel.

That being said, the staff was fantastic and very helpful.
