“Impressive vista accessible via steps from the street”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

We're late 60s but in shape and had no problem with the 103 steps. Others be advised although the Amalfi coast IS very vertical! Can't believe the porter who tied up our 2 couples' 4 bags at over 80 kilos/180 LBS carrying them up the stairs. Impressive!

Located on the hillside with killer view the hotel is right at the local bus stop which we never used preferring to stroll down the winding road to downtown and the beach, 20 minutes at a steady pace, longer if enjoying the ambiance. Good restaurant choices are right at the bottom of the hotel stairs, no need to go downtown.

Our room was on the lowest level. Other than lacking a small fridge it was fine. We used the kitchen fridge. Clean and spacious for below 4 star Europe.

Love the views from the veranda, the dining room and from our room a slightly obstructed, lowest price room without its own balcony. Breakfast was ample and fine. A charge for 2nd mini-pot of coffee. Did not care for the dinner food and menu choices.

Room Tip: Bottom floor rooms have no balcony but are close to the main lobby. Upper floor rooms have private...

We had a great stay at this hotel. It is a great location with great views. It is an easy walk to the downtown area - lots of shops and restaurants. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and very accommodating. The complimentary breakfast is very good with lots of choices. There are also other breakfast items you can order off the menu for an additional charge. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from the patio on the 4th floor - a great view and a great way to spend the afternoon.

One caution I would mention is that you have to climb many steps to get to this hotel - it is not right on the street. It was fine for us and most hotels in the area require climbing some steps. Just good to know if case mobility is an issue. The bellperson did a great job of delivering our luggage to our room and then back to our car when we checked out.

They do have parking that is a separate charge just up the street.- it is very convenient.

Thank you to the Conca d'Oro team for a great stay!

Firstly, the good - the staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel are magnificent.

Second, the bad - the rooms are tiny. My bed had a few fleas and ants in it when I arrived, as well as someone else's hair. There is no water pressure and the water is barely warm (even when turned all the way to hot). The towels are like tablecloths - thin and not fluffy. Two of the lightbulbs in the room were dead and the balcony door did not open properly. The television was not tuned properly and only got 3 channels, even though they advertised satellite. The meals in the hotel were okay, but my lasagne was cold in the middle.

They also say wifi in your room, but it's only available in the common areas.

This hotel came recommended by a friend of ours and it certainly was beautiful with some amazing views. But we hadn't anticipated the lengthy journey to get to it. Not only do you need to take an internal bus to get to this hotel, but you also need to climb quite a few steps to get to the hotel itself once off the bus. Highly recommended for all, but anyone with trouble climbing stairs should be wary.

First of all the staff in this hotel ave extremely nice and will do their best to make you enjoy your stay. However, it does not change the fact that the More than 100 steps from the main road to the hotel are no joke! I have a bad leg, plates, screws and etc, and I was amazed how they downplay the steps. Yes there are steps everywhere, but there are hotels on the main road where you may be able to avoid at least some steps, do your research I did not dop a good job.
I think the hotel should be more upfront about the stairs in case the guests are older, not on atletic shape or have leg issues like me. Aso This is not a 3 star hotel , it is a very good B&B in my opinion. There is no fridge in the room, and everytime you need water, they charge you 2 euros for abotle of filtered tap water they fill on the spot. Breakfast is very good, restaurant is good also.

Room Tip: A/C did not work. Very litlle privacy. Make sure you ask them for a private balcony otherwise you w...

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved the views!! Beware that you cannot get to the hotel by car and you need to go up 106 steps from the road. There are people who will carry your bags, but for those who don't like steps, it could be a challenge. We ate 3 of our dinners at the hotel and the food was excellent. We especially appreciated our waitress, Floriana, who gave the 10 of us outstanding service and had a great personality!! They had gluten free pasta and went out of their way to get me a healthy meal. We all enjoyed the breakfast, but be aware that you get one free latte and the rest go on your bill. Our room was clean, but the shower was very small. We all liked the location, even though it was about a 10 minute walk downhill to the docks and center of town. If you do not like walking, I would stay closer to town....but our group all agreed that we would stay there again!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 429 and unless you want to share a deck, do not get rooms 428, 429, 430 and 431...

We enjoyed our 2 day stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are 3 star but the view is 5 star. Breathtaking views of the coastline. Although the many stairs were a challenge to get up, it was good exercise after wining and dining in town.
