Just returned from a five night visit in Positano (our first) and a stay at Covo dei Saraceni. The hotel is on the beach (literally) and is unlike many of the other luxury properties in Positano for that reason. It is old school elegant. The common areas are inviting and the rooms we saw (ours and one other) were terrific. Our room was on the Third Floor (out of five) and had a plunge pool with a giant veranda. It was recently redone and spectacular. You pay for this--trust me. But it was so worth it. The Fifth Floor of the hotel has a rooftop pool which overlooks the beach and the entire town of Positano. Fabulous--particularly because we had unusually warm October weather (80 degrees plus for 4 days straight). The location and the distinctive character of the building aside, the staff is what separates Covo from other properties in my opinion. A big shout out to Augusto (who runs the pool bar), Rosario (one of the finest room service attendants I've ever experienced), Paolo (the head waiter), the front desk staff (helpful and relaxed), and the gentleman (whose name I forget) who oversaw our breakfast each morning in one of the more elegant rooms in the property. I've stayed in some great places in my life and I've stayed in nicer properties in the sense that they were more updated and contemporary. But I don't recall staying in a place that had it all: an understated elegance and sophistication matched by spectacular views and uncompromising services. Try the Covo!

Room Tip: Pay the piper and get a room with a plunge pool on the veranda. You will not be disappointed.

Loved the location !Breakfast was very good. Happy with restaurant , both food and service.
Staff friendly and helpful !
Side trip to Naples was fantastic.
Boat tour of Almalfi Coast breathtaking.
Maybe, October isn't as busy ,but the hotel was very quiet even with 2 weddings held there during our stay.

Room Tip: they are all facing the sea (I think). which is definetely what you want

We stayed here on our honeymoon and arrived by boat to find the hotel right on the beach - perfect! The rooftop pool was an oasis with beautiful views over the town and the sea. Staff were friendly and helpful organising transport and providing information. Breakfast was lovely, and gelato downstairs was delicious (especially the Biscotto!). All the restaurants, bars and boutiques are within walking distance, just with a lot of steps. The beach is only a few footsteps away. Can't wait to return!

The standard rooms are tiny-the upgrade makes a big difference but drives the price up to the really expensive category. The views are great. Breakfast very nice. Wifi good. Staff is so-so could be more helpful. You have to pay to have the town porter service bring the bags up and down. It's about a ten minute strenuous walk to the road. There are several good restaurants on the same level as the hotel, along the beach. The pool is nice, but unheated. I'm not sure this is the best town to stay in-there really is no central area to stroll around. It's all on a steep hill. i believe it is five stars but certainly seemed more like four.

Nothing to complain about here at all.
May be a bit pricey but certainly worth it.
Service and accommodations and amenities are top notch. Period.
The restaurant is absolutely the best we have had in town in all aspects and ate here twice after being at the others nearby.
The others are good yes of course and each have their own style.
As for location, can't beat it....step off the ferry and you are right there.
People complaining about hauling luggage here are just naive as to the process if coming in on a bus. All hotels are a walk and can be difficult (it is Positano) and Blue Porter will transfer bags if you need.
Being here in Oct is nice and quiet but not sure would stay here in high season as the pool would be nuts with young families.
