“Did not want to leave”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

I read many reviews prior to booking this fantastic hotel and glad I ignored the few negative ones. The view from this hotel is just spectacular and especialy from the restaurant where we ate dinner twice and breakfast every day and cannot fault the food Or the staff who did everything to make our stay complete. It is not for the faint hearted or those with a walking disability as I have never been to a hotel with soooo many stairs but this is to be expected considering its built into the cliff face but there is a lift and fenicular from the beach to the top at reception. How Ciro lifts and carrys everyones luggage to their rooms is amazing and he is such a nice man. Would definitely stay again and I recommend the slow walk into town although would never walk back up that hill. The shuttle service is great and leaves spot on the advertised times so dont be late

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the left side of the fenicular as you get the brilliant views into town from there

This was such a perfect spot to take in the beauty of Positano and the amazing Mediterranean views . All the rooms have balconies overlooking the sea! The hotel was designed and built into the side of the mountain. This is what makes it so unique. When you arrive you wonder where the hotel is but then you look down and see the many terraced levels that make ip the hotel. The staff is fantastic and always there to assist...Ciro, Giuseppe, all were so nice!! It can be quite a hike to your room, many stairs and a funicular but they didn't hesitate in lugging our heavy bags (next time I will pack light). The terrace has breathtaking views and a perfect spot to enjoy the delicious breakfast. We had a wonderful candlelight dinner, amazing food and enjoyed the twinkling lights of Positano set against the sea. They also have a great pool as well as a beach level deck and outdoor . They run a shuttle on the hour into town, only takes 5 minutes and your in the village center. We liked being a little out of the tourist crowds and think you can't trade the view for a intown hotel......all in all the perfect place to stay if your going to Positano!

Room Tip: I thinks all rooms have balconies but if you might have trouble with stairs I would let them know an...

Our stay was 3 nights. At first we were disappointed that the hotel was outside the city center, but once we settled in, we were pleased. The hotel supplies a shuttle every hour to and from the city center. Since much of out itenery had us driving to different sites it was conveniant to not be in the center. We also found it very relaxing to sit by the beach or terrace to relax at the end of the day before going out to dinner. The funicular is a unique and fun way to travel to and from your room. Breakfast was a pleasure because of the food and the view. Staff was very good about helping with luggage, retrieving our van and bringing it up to the street for us, etc.

Me and my girlfriend loved our stay here! The staff were very accommodating providing us with free transport to my brothers wedding in the town hall. The views were stunning and we made the most of the private beach with free towel service. A water taxi is available here straight to positano beach which costs only €15, we preferred this to the free bus as it could get busy at times (and takes longer). We slept well every night, the one downside to the hotel is access as there is alot of stairs and the funicular to the beach is slow and temperamental. However this is the case of all of positano as it is built into a cliff! I would definately this as a great stay to enjoy the beauty of positano!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. From the stunning cliff side views at the restaurant and pool to the spectacular private beach. It has it's own lift that takes you throughout the multi level property which would be our only complaint- it can sometimes be difficult to get around with so many stairs and only one lift. It is truly beautiful here but what outshines everything is the staff. They are beyond kind and hospitable. Specifically, Rafaelle and his brother Antonio- make sure that you introduce yourself to these truly lovely people. They positively made our trip!

Lovely lovely location, high above the town of Positano. The setup is unique, with rooms on various levels on the cliffside, and a funicular/elevator combination to take you down to a private beach and bar. All rooms have views as far as I could tell. Food was excellent, and the food service helpful and cordial.

Downside...our room had quite a number of steps to reach it, which is only an issue going uphill. The rooms themselves may be more 4-star than 5, as they are quite plain (white decor inside and out), and the beds were a bit hard. This is somewhat unusual for a Tauck tour. However, the view certainly compensates.

Upside..shuttle service. .and, in addition to the location and unbelievable views, I'm giving special kudos to the assistance they provided me when I "lost" my camera card with 700 photos downtown. When I realized it at 10:15pm, the cordial manager Ciro sent a bellboy to search the road with a flashlight (we took a taxi), then had him drive me downtown in a car to the taxi stand, and finally waited for me when I went down to the restaurant we had eaten at (and yes, it was there under our table). The next morning he went out of his way to tell me how happy he was that it was located. Very much appreciated.

Room Tip: If you have problems climbing up stairs and a driveway, ask for a room level accessible by elevator.

This was a special holiday to celebrate our Silver Wedding which I had briefly mentioned in an email, however, on arrival in our suite we discovered a bottle of prosecco on ice and a huge platter of fresh fruit. The staff without exception were incredibly friendly & helpful, our room was spotless and above all the view from our room, the dining room & terraces were priceless. I have stayed in many 5* hotels but it was the little things & attention to detail which will ensure my husband & I return to Le Agavi.
