What a totally fantastic vacation! Cooking, wine, art and architecture combined. Perfect.
I highly recommend including Fabrizio to get the total flavor of the area (ahem). The entire staff there was wonderful. Warm and engaging.
Beatrice and Max were great. Casanuova was excellent. Old world charm and modern amenities, close to city center but quiet.
Luca is a phenomenal guide. Such a depth of art and history knowledge combined with great good humor. His tour of Uffizi was unique. I learned so much.
Monica was like an old friend to me. What I especially enjoyed was that her cooking was easy to follow and repeat, and cooking the foods chosen at the marketplace was great fun.
I am so glad I decided to contact you at cooking-vacations.com. Brava!

May 11-15, 2010 four friends and I vacationed in Positano - it was fantastico. All of us - five meticulous guys from Los Angeles - noted Cooking-Vacations to be the highlight of our 10-day South Italy excursion. It was more than just a memorable experience! Lauren Birmingham Piscitelli's representation of "la dolce vita" is a passion for food, wine, and the art-of-cooking with a tremendous care for her clientele.

We appreciated all components of the itinerary named Lemon Lifestyle, choosing two one-day cooking programs. This, nearly three years (Oct 6 -13, 2007) after cooking & eating through Tuscany in Cooking-Vacation's The Tuscan Traveler's Dream. Each program represented a distinct cultural experience and a recognition of hands-on recipes.

Positano was picturesque. Just perfect of a place to learn to cook using lemons as a key ingredient in several Neapolitan dishes - risotto al limone; pollo al limone; and tempting tiramisu. The other chefs-in-training became fast friends and our group expanded.

We tailor made our group-of-five's 2-day program to include a food lover's walk visiting open-air markets; a pottery passion of Italian collector pieces; and an appreciation of finer wines. Mrs. Lauren Piscitelli's particulars, familiarity with all people and things nice, and skillful makings produced an itinerary of wows that stands for value.

My mother and I did one of the Cooking Vacations in Calabria because that is where my grandmother was from and we wanted to honor her (she died last year.) My mom is 67 and I am 35 and it couldn't have been a more perfect time. The course was very authentic, and we had our own personal photographer/driver and an interpreter to guide us through the three-day course as well as excursions. Carmine, our photographer/driver, took over 700 pictures, which he gave to us on CD at the end of our trip at no charge, and he also took pictures on my mother's camera as well. The fact that we had an interpreter and our chefs spoke in Italian made the trip not feel like some packaged American tour and gave us a real feel for the culture and the locale. The town we stayed in (Scalea) was walkable and we enjoyed our meals at the restaurant each night. Everyone we dealt with, from our contact person at the hotel to the owner of the restaurant where we took the course to our driver and interpreter were helpful, friendly and professional and a complete joy to be with. My mother said it was the best vacation she's ever had in her life, and I would have to agree with her. I would love to do another Cooking Vacations vacation with my husband and another one with my girlfriends, as I would imagine it would be a different and special experience each time. I can't recommend this experience enough.

It is hard to put into words how wonderful this cooking vacation was! We spent only 6 short days in Tuscany cooking with wonderful cooks but it was an experience that was well worth it. We enjoyed our villa stay and felt truly immersed in Tuscan culture. Our hosts were wonderful and the wine was spectacular. I would recommend Lauren Birminham and Cooking Vacations In Italy to anyone I meet. I hope to do another one next year so I can see my great friends!
