“our favorite restaurant in positano”
Reviewed July 27, 2010

For our first night in positano on our honeymoon we were looking for a restaurant and were suggested MAX's by our hotel. What a great find! It was a great place with terrific food. We loved the eggplant parm. My husband who never eats fish had the local fish, pezzona (not sure of the spelling) and loved it so much we ate here the last night of our trip as well. The waiter recemmended a terrific wine to go with our meal. Sitting outside was lovely and the decor was perfect. This was one of our favorites in positano!

“romantic, quiet, candlelit, elegant interior and intimate courtyard..”
Reviewed July 19, 2010

The food here is on the expensive side but completely worth every euro. My friend and i went there 3 out of the 4 nights we were in Positano (only going 3 times because we hadn't yet discovered it on the first night!). During this time we tried quite a selection of the menu - the spaghetti with clams was amazing, as was all the seafood we tried there. The rack of lamb with rosemary and even the fries were perfect. We tried the apple tart with vanilla gelato and the chocolate souffle and they were divine - needless to say, the staff were so welcoming and catered to all needs with a genuine care and always a smile on their faces which made you want to return!

“Be careful to check your wine order and your bill in this pricey restaurant”
Reviewed July 17, 2010

I was very angry to be served two glasses of prosecco which appeared to be an 'on the house welcome' as is the custom in other restaurants I have frequented in the Amalfi region only to be charged 8 Euros a glass when the bill came. I ordered a bottle of Greco di Tufo at 30 Euros on the advice of the wine waiter. The bottle was opened without it being show to me. A little later I checked the bottle against the wine list and realised we had been served a much less expensive and different wine altogether. I complained and it was changed but I had the feeling this was a deliberate mistake and felt 'conned' and disappointed. The food was good but pricey

“Great service, with a wonderful ambience”
Reviewed May 20, 2010

We visited Ristorante Max in Positano, and were wowed by the ambiance and interior design of the restaurant, as it is like sitting in a decadent art gallery or library, with fantastic peices of art, tastefully postiioned around the restaurant.

The service was very attentive, and the waiters provided a high level of service, with plenty of attention to detail. However sadly the food did not match the same levels of the waiter service - It was good, but not excellent, so we were a little disappointed.
