This was so wonderful that we came back again. Don't miss the amberjack that is cooked rare like ahi tuna. The seafood pasta is to die for. The kitchen is glassed in so you can see your food prepared. Be sure to order the antipasti!
The wait staff was patient and very helpful in describing the dishes. And they send a car to pick you up.
Don't miss it!

Great local restaurant. Menu is all in Italian but was well explained by the waiter and the wine list extensive. Excellent fresh food and wine worth the trip out

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of the apartment where we stayed during our week (just outside of) Positano. We were so happy she did, because we really loved this place. It was so much better then the restaurants we tried in town and waaaaaaay much better then the 35 euro all inclusive restaurant on the hill. The food at La Taverna del Leone is made with good quality ingredients, cooked with (Italian) love and served by a very nice staff. What else do you want?

The menu has about 10 items per course. It is in Italia. We asked our (super kind, English speaking) waiter if he had suggestions for us. He gave us a few options, then we ordered a course, ate it and ordered the next. We had four courses both nights. We shared all the dishes and especially liked the pulpo and the fish carpaccio (as a starter), the linguine vongole (as a second course), the amber jack (half baked as a main) and the semi freddo (dessert). Together with a bottle of Tremonte, we payed 85-105 euros per night for 2.

Unfortunately, we didn't try the pizza here. We wanted to pick one up on a Tuesday night, but then the restaurant was closed (no sign on the door, maybe it's on their website, speaking of that website: it's in Flash, couldn't check it on my Iphone). We heard from several people that their pizzas are supposed to be really good, too.

The staff was very nice, especially the one guy who spoke good English. One of the waiters seemed to get a bit grumpy later at night (we think he was just tired), but he didn't show that at our table. The restaurant wasn't full, but we did make a reservation. It was nice to have a table close to the (spotless!) open kitchen.

The location (on the main road from Positano to Praiano) of the restaurant might make people hesitate to go. The restaurant doesn't have the perfect view and it's not on the beach or in town, but you can park easily and there are taxis and they are willing to pick you up (they might not be on time, Italy...) from the bus stop in Positano.

We probably won't go to the Amalfi coast in the future, but if we do, the no 1 on our to-do list will be a visit to this restaurant. I love cooking myself and our visits to La Taverna del Leone even inspired me to try some new things at home. Highly recommended!

This restaurant was a real treat. The menu is in Italian only, but the waiter is there to help you. Staff is very friendly. The kitchen is open so you can see the pizza oven and the chefs. Prices are very reasonable and the food is value for money. You need a car to get there or a firm walk from Positano. Parking is easy, opposite the restaurant. They also do take away pizza.

We rented a villa near the restaurant and ended up going there 3 nights out of the 5 we were in town for. We just loved the place, I also loved the open concept allowing you to watch the chefs making all the magic in the kitchen. The pizzas were among the best we had in Italy and that's saying a lot because we had pizza almost daily for 15 days. The pasta was fresh and light and the sauces were amazing. The seafood was some of the freshest we had in Italy. Our server Vincenco could not have been more helpful or accommodating and helped us navigate the menu and even spoke to the chef who created special dishes for us that were not even on the menu.
