“Amazing Wedding Reception....beautiful family ...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

I had been corresponding with Antoinetta (daughter of Mamma and Papa) at the restaurant for over 18 months in planning our wedding reception and what a fabulous choice we made.

We first visited the restaurant one lunchtime a few days before our wedding on 3rd July to simply drop off some table decorations/favours etc. This visit should have taken half an hour but took us 2.5 hours due to the most amazing hospitality of Pepe (son of Mamma and Papa) who wouldn't let us leave without sampling the kitchens delights antipasti, pasta, dessert, limoncello and lot of wine and beer!! The generosity and kindness of this family is very genuine, Pepe simply wanted us to have an excellent experience at 'his house.' The food was plentiful, fresh and proper Italian home cooking - just what we wanted for our wedding. We left hardly being able to move - we're greedy!

The day of our wedding reception - 3rd July. We were collected (us and 17 other guests) by the transfer. My husband and myself had requested the vintage Fiat 500 which the restaurant had polished and had some flowers and bow added which was a lovely touch. The lovely guy (I think he was a cousin of the family) whizzed us around some picturesque spots with our photographer for photos - he went the extra mile to make our day special and we had such fun in the car. When we arrived at the restaurant our guests were enjoying aperitif wine and olives/ham etc. The were all wowed by the location etc. The staff had dressed our table just how we had asked and it looked fantastic.

The night was amazing we watched the sun set as we ate and drank the fantastic food that was provided. The family even as a surprise had another female cousin come and sing for us ... a fantastic touch which we will always remember. This location is stunning, the food superb and the hospitality excellent. We really wanted to get back again before we left for another meal however we ran out of time.

Without a doubt we will return if not just to experience the wonderful food but to see again the wonderful family who made our wedding day so special.... thank you Pepe, Antoinetta, Mamma, Papa and all the cousins, aunts, uncles etc who made our day special.

“This is truly one of the best!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

I had seen this on TripAdvisor and when our driver confirmed that it was one of his favorites, I knew we were in for a treat. But it was more than a treat. This is working farm, tucked into the mountainside, with a restaurant with one of the most gorgeous views of the Amalfi Coast. The food is as good as the view and if you have been on the coast between Sorrento and Positano, you know that is high praise. This is truly one of the best meals of my life.

They started bring many appetizers or antipasti as they say: eggplant parmesan, caprese salad with smoked mozzarella, buffalo mozzarella with salami, chick peas and prosciutto, bruschetta, and bread with olive oil. House red and house white wine as well. Then the main pasta dishes: ravioli stuffed with ricotta/spinach, penne and mushrooms In a cream sauce, gnocchi In a red sauce, a manicotti type of noodle stuffed with feta, broccoli and spinach!! All better than the next. And if that wasn't enough a shot of limoncello, 5 different samples of dessert and coffee.

I can't say enough about this place other than if you are spending 1 day or 10 on the Amalfi coast, find your your up the winding road and get here as fast as you can. You won't be sorry.

“Best lunch ever at La Tagliata”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

We had heard such glowing praises from one of our good friends who has travelled to Italy many times. Our expectations were very high - as was the road to Positano! At our friends recommendation we had engaged Lovely Amalfi Coast Tours for our day in Naples and they did not disappoint!

The road to Positano is the main road on the Amalfi Coast and it is incredibly beautiful! Unfortunately it is a road that should only be travelled by someone experienced. Our driver was experienced (and also charming) but I digress. He navigated up the narrow roads, pausing for unbelievable photo ops and delivered us -safe and sound to La Tagliata.

Linda, I thank you for one of the most fantastic meals of my life! From the moment we arrived it was almost surreal. We sat down and the view from our table was phenomomal. The first course starting coming out - plate after plate. Everything was delicious, plus a bottle of red and a bottle of white (thank you Billy Joel). Once the first course was delivered and devoured the second course arrived. Oh my goodness!! Everything was so delicious and most of it is sourced right there. Mama - I didn't get to meet you, but, you are better than any sous chef I have experienced!

After we had devoured the first and second courses (this is lunch) the dessert plate arrived. Oh my goodness, my grandson and granddaughters eyes were huge! And every thing on it was amazingly delicious. There wasn't a crumb left but believe me you have not had a tiramusu like this one!

So, when they brought out the Limincello we knew the best meal was over! But, as it turned out, not quite. Our wonderful tour guide (friend) saluted us with a glass of Prosecco. And, he brought the more sure-footed down do see the terraced vegetable gardens and aimals.

I love you La Tagliata! I am 66 but I have every hope that I will be back to your welcoming arms again!!! Giovanni - I am counting on you to take us there!!

“Great value - get their for the early sitting for the best tables.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Really enjoyed this homely and authentic dinning experience. A set menu based on what is fresh or in season. Delicious 4 course meal, really tasty antipasti, pasta, meat and dessert - share plates. You are served the wine they make there on the premisses which was very nice and basically an all you can drink scenario. We left bursting at the seams for 35 euro ahead - excellent value! The views are stunning and the restaurant pick you up and drop you off.

Tip: best to go for an early sitting for dinner. We arrived at 7.30pm and were the first group of dinners and had the pick of where we wanted to sit. There are tables that fringe the balcony and have the best views - best to try and get one of these tables. By the time the later sittings arrived there were none of these tables left. Also best to book as its a full house most nights.

“One of the best meals - on top of the world!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2014

We were staying in Positano for 2 nights and got a tip from a fellow traveler at our B&B that we should try this restaurant. It was just down the road from where we were staying so we thought it would be the perfect spot to have our "grand Italian meal" on our second night.

Having stopped by earlier in the evening to try and make a reservation (the man we spoke to said it was full but if we came after 10pm it would be no problem), we arrived and were immediately catered to the entire 2 hours we spent there. We were given a lovely table overlooking the sea so we could see all the boats and yachts lit up as well as the lights of Positano below.

How it works is that you pay a fixed price per person and they bring you wine and several courses of home cooked, family style Italian food. I can't say enough about the quality and taste of the food. It was the type of meal where every bite you can't believe how good it tastes, and even when your stomach feels like it is about to burst because you are so full, you have to keep eating because it is THAT good. We were served at least 5 different types of appetizers, then a split dish of amazing pasta with 2 different types of sauce. After this, they bring out a meat plate, absolutely delicious, juicy and grilled to perfection. The beef in particular was my favorite, but they also served lamb, rabbit, chicken and a rib of pork. Of course, there is dessert at the end with a bit of limoncello to round out the meal.

Overall, such a delicious and magical experience - perfect combination of food, atmosphere and superb and friendly service. Quite a bargain too - all that for only 35 euros per person, including the wine. A MUST if you are visiting Positano, make sure you make a reservation so you don't have to miss this!
