“A Fantastic Dining Experience!”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

As soon as you arrive at La Tagliata, you are made to feel at home! The staff are all extremely welcoming and attentive. There is no menu, but the variety of dishes on offer makes the dining experience an exciting adventure! You always look forward to the next dish they are going to put in front of you...and there are certainly plenty of them! The one thing you need when eating at La Tagliata is a large appetite!

All the food is fresh and expertly cooked by "Mama" and her team. It is also mostly vegetarian which is quite unusual for Italy where meat is usually the more dominant part of every meal. It gets extremely busy most nights, so booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. Like most of the restaurants in the area, they also offer their guests a free taxi service which is always welcome.

Altogether a very relaxing and fantastic dining experience...can't wait to go back on our next visit to the area!

“Felt right at home!”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

My fiancé and I had a great dining experience at La Tagliata! First off, I love the concept of not having a menu and just being served whatever the chef wants to make, at La Tagliata, the chef is Mama, which I was even more excited about! When I first stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with some warmth and hospitality. We just made the reservation the night before because he just heard about it and had limited time in Positano. We were able to secure a table t next night but couldn't get a table with a view, which was fine with us due to the last minute reservation! The greeter apologized for not be able to give us a table with a view but we were totally fine and appreciated his sincerity though! He explained that his mom is the cook and welcomed us into his house. I felt so warm and welcomed once I stepped into the restaurant! The restaurant has a great view of Positano. For 35 euros, you get unlimited beverages (wine included) and an endless amount of food! For the appetizers, there was buffalo mozzarella & proscuitto, grilled vegetables, eggplant parm, fava beans and etc. For the antipasta, we had 4 different kinds to taste, all which were delicious! For the secondi course, we had a plate of grilled meats (chicken, pork, beef, rabbit, lamb) and the dessert consisted of pistachio cream puffs, mixed berries and cheesecake. We thought everything was delicious and were stuffed by the end of the night by all the food that we devoured! They are not cheap with the portions! At the end of the night, Mama came out to introduce herself to everyone in the restaurant. I think the whole atmosphere of the restaurant was just so nice and heartwarming. Another awesome part was that they can arrange a free shuttle for you back to your hotel/apartment before and after dinner and since the restaurant is in Nocelle, that was perfect because you usually need to take a bus or cab back. We loved it here and would love to come back again!!

“Real Italian food served with warmth, charm and humor and a killer view!”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

This is not sophisticated dining. This is real farm to table down home Italian cooking. Fresh food, served simply, in abundance, with a view over Positano (and the sunset if you're lucky to be there at that hour) that is unrivaled, served to you by some of the warmest, most gracious restaurant owners I have come across. These are people who love what they do, take pride in what they serve and want you to love your experience eating at their restaurant. I don't think you can ask for much more. In particular Mama's pasta won our hearts....go hungry and leave satisfied (especially at these prices)!

“Terrible at La Tagliata”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

This was the worst food that I have had in Positano despite what the reviews state. Bread is ordinary, appetizers are just okay, the only thing that stands out is the homemade ricotta cheese. All else is slop. The eggplant in tomato sauce is okay, if you have never had it anywhere else. The pasta is okay, nothing to write home about and the grilled meat lack taste and tenderness. The tiramisu is unrecognizable and tasteless almost what you would get at a diner. Absolutely no reason to go, wouldn't recommend if it was free. Can't understand why this restaurant is number 2 in Positano, could not wait to leave!

“Hearty Italian at its best”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

No menu, just decide on how many courses you'd like. Go for anti-pasti and pasta followed by desserts. Buffalo mozzarella w/ prosciutto, bruschetta, char-grilled aubergines and tomatoes - typical dishes but taste-wise, they were something else. Four varieties of pasta - mama's surprise pasta and ravioli w/ pumpkins were my favourite. The mixed grills (incl. beef, lamb, pork, rabbit and sausages) could be requested before desserts - tender, smoky and juicy meat. Desserts were served in a mixed platter fashion with tiramisu (to die for!), rum baba, granny cake, chocolate profiterole, etc. And the best part - you could ask for more! The view is terrific and we were greeted by the warm welcome of Vincenzo whose mama & papa cooked up the amazing feast! Having dined at 7 restaurants in 5 days, gotta say this is my favourite in Positano :)
