I'd read about La Tagliata online and reserved far in advance. The restaurant runs a hotel pickup service as they are located far from the Positano city center. The restaurant is perched high on the cliffs of Positano with great views. The meal is served family style with a great variety of very tasty food and bottled wine for the table. We very much enjoyed La Tagliata. The only negative I can share is that with the shared van ride to the restaurant, we also experienced a slightly rushed feeling throughout the meal. There was a real sense that you needed to eat quickly in order to catch the shuttle ride back to town. It was very different from the laid back, must ask for the check (il conto) in order to get it. I understand their need to fill the shuttle, but I think most patrons would enjoy letting their food settle before being hurried off. But again, the food and view were gorgeous - just would have liked to enjoy it about 20-30min longer!

This is Italian family hold B&B and restaurant.
The views over Positano and the sea are just amazing.
The restaurant has no menu and the food is prepared by chef for the specific day. There are two main courses: First + Meat(including amazing Fiorentina Steak or mixed plate) or First + Pasta. + Dessert, Coffee etc. The vine is included in the mean and it is local made and very Delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the perfect food quality you get - ~30Euro per person for all meal(first + main + vine + dessert).

The service was also great, friendly and polite.

GREAT PLACE TO HAVE A MEAL near Positano!!

The views are beautiful and the atmosphere rustic. Service is adequate but the food is nothing to write home about. I wish I could say better things about La Tagliata, but I just can't understand how it's made number one on Trip Advisor for restaurants in Positano when restaurants like Constantino's exist nearby. There were copious amounts of food delivered to our table as well as a mediocre bottle of wine, but there is not one dish that I can say is memorable. Some of the starters including a sort of pasta, flan, quiche creation were clearly not home made. The meat course was a mixed grill that left much to be desired. Much of the meat was very fatty, and the ribs had no meat on them. Desert was also anticlimactic and tasted nearly completely artificially flavored. Again, there was A LOT of food here for a low price, 35 euros per person, so if that is important to you, then this might be a place for you. Just don't set your expectations too high.

We came in, not knowing what to expect, & kept getting pleasantly surprised. First the gorgeous view. Then the friendly & personable service. Then a series of dishes, each better than the one before it, each tastier than expected... some dishes had products we never liked before this place but were so good here that we cleaned our plates. Oh, & the wine was excellent! It was amazing.
It wasn't cheap (35E for the meal, including everything but there's no menu because you eat what the chef made for that day), but it was SO worth it!

Extraordinary. No menu, no idea what it will cost. A bottle of wine each. Amazing views, fantastic ambience. Friendly staff who simply love food and want you to enjoy everything. Thirteen antipasti. Four pasta. Eight meats. Four desserts. Limoncello. 35 euro each, we figured it would be at least fifty given the quantity and quality. Do not miss this place. I would plan a trip to Italy around this restaurant.
