“Where I fell in love with Mozzarella”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We picked this place because we could see it from the balcony of our room at the Hotel Albergo California. We were tired from the trek to Positano and just looking to decompress. Let me preface this review by saying what I try to in all my reviews on Italy. Do not be in a rush. If you're hypoglycemic or just cranky when you're hungry then always carry a snack around with you. Don't go to these restaurants starved and cranky or you'll never fully enjoy the Italian dining experience. That said, you can dine in the restaurant on the hotel side of the small road or just across on the narrow sidewalk table. We chose the latter on both our visits. The inside is nice, but louder from the sound of voices bouncing off the walls. We both preferred the more quiet and open aired experience. The servers are young, genuinely sweet and running their tails off trying to keep up with all the tables between the pair of em. I suggest ordering "acqua minerale, con gas per favore" with every meal. They don't get the concept of "ice water with lemon", so give it up and give into the "when in Rome" concept. It seems to go really well with the food there and I never had a stomach ache though I stuffed myself at every meal I'll tell you now, it's hard not to. The view is awesome. It's a bit awkward at first sitting on a slope, but you get used to it and the meal is worth waiting for. The food is really fresh and well presented. It was the first place we'd seen the the option for Mozzarella grilled on lemon leaves and I love lemon anything so I had to tried it. First, don't eat the lemon leaves. Just peel the cheese off of them and get ready to taste the most delicious app ever~ This is why we went back. We could've dined a dozen other places and pretty much had a rule of not dining anywhere twice on this trip, but on our last night in town we decided we just had to have another order of the grilled Mozzarella. So, there you have it. If you go, don't be in a rush, enjoy the view, drink the water their way and definitely order the grilled mozzarella on lemon leaves~

“Surprising Gem!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

A street-side restaurant on the main Christoforo Columbo, it was just a few short steps away from out hotel so we tried it. What a delight! Pick a table with a view (not one hidden from it by bushes) and you will enjoy delicious food AND a great view at extremely reasonable prices. We actually went twice in one week! Friendly, sweet service as well.

“Authentic Italian - FABULOUS!”
Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

Great place, with great views over Positano.

Service was superb and very friendly. Our waiter spoke great English but really helped us with practicing our Italian and was very patient.

Food was unbelievably good. The marinated anchovies were to die for and I even considered a second order! ;-) pasta was also great... Very simple, no frills... Just delicious and fresh...

Cannot recommend highly enough...

Small and intimate. It was packed with many waiting to get in. It rained the night we were there so they did not have their outdoor tables in action. There was a lot of activity and good food.

“Great location for outdoor seating to view sunset”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Enjoyed our first dinner in Positano at Ristorante Bruno. No reservation was needed on a Wednesday night. The restaurant has seating indoors, outdoors just outside the building and a line of tables across the street with outstanding view of Positano. We were seated outdoors at a beautiful table, across the street, for a direct view of sunset.

Ordered wine by the glass, appetizer, 2 pasta primos, 2 secondis for a total of 110 euro. A little higher price than expected but the food was very good. Large portions. View was really stunning.

Service overall was fair - it appeared that the staff had become tired of the tourists - could be somewhat abrupt or unwelcoming. The female server was more pleasant. As for the time between courses, we expected a longer wait since Italians take their time to enjoy the meals. We did receive much better service at other restaurants in the area but the view here was really fantastic.
