This is our second holiday in Positano and we have eaten at many restaurants here. Most have been good experiences some truly excellent. The Saraceno d'oro for it's combination of truly friendly service, choice of food and quality of food is amongst the very best. I don't know how we missed it on our last trip. We decided to have a leisurely lunch and we actually arrived before they had opened. We were shown to a nice roomy table and ordered a drink whilst waiting for the restaurant to open. The owner decorates the trees with lemons and has wonderful tubs of colourful flowers all along the wall behind the tables. We both had the delicious bruschetta to start. For main course I ordered the local sausage, potato croquettes and baked aubergines and tomatoes. It was delicious, the sausage was very tasty and the aubergines quite simply one of the tastiest pieces of food I've ever eaten. I want to know how the chef does that. My wife had spaghetti vongole that she said was superb. Along with this we had nice fresh bread and white wine and a cold beer. It was all followed by a complimentary Limoncello. The owners and family run the restaurant, a b and b and a hotel all across the road and clearly take great pride in providing quality food and service.
