Everyone raves about this place with good reason. It's cool, it's on a stunning beach (ignore the pebbles) with crystal clear water and cliff views, the food is seriously amazing and comes out very quick. We were there on a Monday (which is the only day they don't get fresh deliveries) so things we wanted had run out (octopus, prawns) by 115pm but everything we had was awesome. The mozzarella on lemon leaf, lobster, whole fish and mussels were fantastic but our favorite was a delicious carpaccio of kingfish. All washed down with the house Rosé and a few beers and then onto the deck chairs for some sun and a swim. Perfect lunch in a cracking spot!!

Note: the boat with the red fish that picks you up from Positano wharf only takes about 10 people at a time. Get down there a good half hour before your reservation and when you see it in the distance, stand on the edge of the dock and hold your ground (lots of people push past you). It's only a 10min ride so if you miss one the boat will be back in about 25min. It's fine to get there early anyway and have a swim before lunch.

Yes, it's chaos. Everyone we had spoken to about going to Positano had said we have to go there, "look for the red snapper on the boat at Positano Marina" were our detailed contact instructions. We were staying near a local beach Arienzo and they kindly picked us up from there, we lounged in beach chairs and swam before going up to the restaurant to eat. Even if you have a booking you might have to wait for a table as no-one is turned away here at da Adolpho, that's how friendly it is. With lots of patrons - many local (always a good sign), lots of waiters - definitely local, and the boat coming in with more customers every 20 minutes or so... It is, how they say in Italy... Pazzo. The best experience of my 3 week trip in the Med. Total chaos ruled by the rock-like serenity of co-owner Sergio. Our waiter, Giuseppe calmly sat and suggested his favourites off the menu for our meal, every one was a delight - Baccala and pasta, seared tuna, crisp whole fish and salad, washed down with vino Bianca and peaches. We stayed late and drank long, I'll be coming back to Positano and lining up every day for Da Adopho.

This is such a great laid back beach restaurant. The food is fantastic-- the zuppe de cozze made me wanna cry! We met a fantastic local woman who invited us to eat with her and we ended up having a great time. To those readers that expect 5 star dining, a cabana boy, and a foot message please don't come. This is a local (kinda gritty) beach bar that serves terrific food with a terrific staff. Leave the attitude at home and enjoy yourself here.

First up we booked for 1pm....got to the wharf and there was a brawl on the boat...too many and none wanted to get off so the boat guy refused to sail...fair enough..€700 fine if he got caught with one person over. So a little bemused I rang the Resturant and asked what to do...a little snidely was told wasn't their issue...which in fairness it wasn't...they can't help bad mannered patrons and freeloaders...but he said catch the next one and don't worry we will hold your table.
Normally. Would have walked and enjoyed the numerous fare of so many others close by but I was a little intrigued. Within minutes another 6 sweater boat arrived and took us there. Only seconds behind...and low and behold...the people that crashed were turned away...we and the others that had booked were shown our tables and we enjoyed a great meal.
Entrees arrived in super fast time...waters rushed up and don steps..lyes..it was frantic...for them...great for us...they were wonderful...they advised..delivered..were friendly and efficient...and made it all a great experience.
Chill put...relax...don't waffle on...accept their advice and just plain enjoy!
We did...and yes...we enjoyed...the muscles...the sangria and peaches, the carpaccio, the spaghetti and lobster and the lemon leaves with mozzarella ....but mostly the theatre... What a good afternoon in Prositano!

Another lovely boat trip to Da Adolfo for a memorable lunch. mussels, vongole, stuffed squid and a blackboard filled with the days menu delicious interesting pasta, lots of wine with peaches..apparently a local brew..delicious. Service excellent, open kitchen above the restaurant and waiters up and down the steps with alarming speed. It's a really fun place. Can't wait to go back.
