“A Tuscan Gem”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Portovenere is a gem of a place situated in northern tuscany. It can be reached in under two hours from Lucca and is well worth the drive. Stunning scenery and a quaint town tumbling down the hillside filled with cafes, trattorias and restaurants. There is also a castle from which the views are amazing and being Tuscany a number of churches. It is magical to sit on the harbourside sipping a glass of vino or enjoying a fabulous gelato whilst the yachts slip in and out of their moorings. You can also catch a boat here for the Cinque Terra or why not just relax and enjoy what Portovenere has to offer.

“Cinque Terra”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

Wonderful little town that serves as the gateway to the Cinque Terra. Many things to see in the town and you can catch the boats to the Cinque Terra from here if the seas are calm. Many resaurants and shopping to compliment the historic sights.

“Nothing to envy to Portofino...beautiful place”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Beautiful village. Strictly speaking, not part of le cinque terre but in the same style and actually, even more beautiful. Reachable by boat or bus from La Spezia. The church is breathtaking. Unfortunately, on the day we went there the castello was closed to visitors. But still worth sitting under the pine trees and enjoy the view form up there.

“Nice Place But Limited and Expensive Car Parking”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Church and Castello on the headland well worth a visit and allow for spectacular photography.
Nice places to eat and drink but parking is a mare and extremely expensive, even for Italy, unless you are prepared to walk 20 minutes into town.
