This a favourite restaurant on an ancient wooden fishing platform (this fishing method dates back to Phoenician times but sadly little fish is caught on the few remaining trabucchi around the Gargano coastline). Perched on the end of a cliff you eat your meal practically on the water - a bit like being on a boat but without the seasickness.
We have been to this restaurant many times (an absolute must for all our visitors) and although a little hit and miss we have NEVER had a bad meal. The last time we went, just a few days ago, we actually had the best meal we have ever had there.
The thing to remember here is to not bother with the pasta/rice dishes. What is special about this restaurant is the variety and deliciousness of the starters and the freshness and simplicity of the cooking of the main-course fish.
We always order all the starters (except the bruschetta, like the pasta you can get that anywhere). So, an impressive and seemingly endless parade of little dishes of all sorts of seafood prepared according to local Gargano recipes arrives to cover the table. If it is just the 2 of us we may stop there but if we go with friends then we follow on with barbequed fish which you choose from the platter of fresh fish that is presented to you for the purpose.
One other thing - we always go at lunchtime not only to enjoy the sea views but also because the staff are always more tired by the evening, after a long hot day.
Warning: there is a climb down and then up, of course - it's not difficult but if you're not up to steps then it might be best to choose a different restaurant.
Finally, it's not cheap, but we think it's worth it!
And we shall return, time and time again!!
