Pay attention to eat "Da Mimi" since there are more Trabucco Restaurants in the area. We were six people, the all of us used to eat great fish and the all of us felt in love with this place. Great location right on the ocean, serving only fresh fish with a great variety and incredible taste. Make sure to be there early since you will start some of the options disappearing from the wooden menu otherwise. We had many different dishes and I don't recall even one of them disappointing or simply average. My octopus was delicious and I could cut it with a fork. Definitely a place that you will love. Just consider that this place is, on purpose, rustic. You will have to order at the counter and will have a decent selection of local wines too.

Italian friends who've been coming for years introduced us to this place. And what a place. Set on the edge of a wild-looking outcrop of the Gargano, just beyond Peschichi, it's cleverly designed to look as if fishermen pop in for lunch whilst leaving their nets out to dry. The views are superb.

The food is a simple, but pleasing, as the surroundings. Some of the freshest seafood we've ever eaten ... The first plate of it raw, just to emphasise the just-out-of-the-sea taste. It might even have been caught on the working trabucco (wooden fishing machine) alongside that gives the restaurant its name. Good pasta followed, followed by a stunningly tasty turbot, cooked simply with oil, oregano, olives and tomatoes.

Bathed in early summer sunlight and washing everything down with good local wine and a shot of the owners homemade bay liqueur (as in bayleaf), this was a meal to remember.

Fresh fish, cooked to any preference, watching fishing trawlers in the sunset, very friendly staff. For two people on a budget, all for a good price too!

Our experience can only be summed up by this limerick:

Our waiter, an Italian called Vinnie,
He spoke many languages didn't he?
He served the fresh fish,
Cooked as we wished,
A fabulous place, Trabucco da Mimi.

Just make sure you look up where it is first. It's not the most straightforward place to find, but definitely worth it!

A "trabucco" is an elaborate (and very old) wooden rig from which nets are strung to catch fish in the coastal waters of Puglia.

The Trabucco da Mimi restaurant is adjacent to a functioning trabucco on a rocky spur of land looking out to sea - - so there are great views.
The restaurant only serves fresh fish. The catch of the day is laid out on ice at the front of the restaurant. You can choose your fish when you order - and decide how you want the fish cooked - lots of advice is available if you are unsure. There is also a varied wine list of local Puglian wines. Cooking is plain and simple in classic Italian style.

The restaurant is individual in character - it is of a ramshackle wooden construction - and it is managed with spirit and flair by the family who run the business. Service is brisk and prompt.

You can eat well for 35 euros but you are advised to arrive early - the restaurant is very popular.

Buon Apetito!

We were staying in a great hotel La locanda della castellana few kilometers away and heard about this restaurant right on the rocks by the sea next to a Trabucco (old fashioned wooden structure to catch fish). The location and views of this restaurant is one of the best we have seen, so romantic! The seafood and fish were super fresh and the grilled calamari a real treat. The lady taking the order was very nice and spoke many different languages. We went there for lunch and few days later for dinner and had a great time twice. You will need to book in the busy season as it is popular. Unfortunately having lived in Italy for 3 years now and enjoyed many restaurants, I have to admit that it is a bit over priced which is a shame as the rest is perfect. So if you don't mind paying a little extra for the amazing location and the freshness of the products, you will definitely enjoy it very much.
