“Perfect venue for an Italian Wedding Reception and traditional Italian accomodation”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

We visited 6 hotels in Paestum when deciding on a location for our wedding reception and the Meridiana was the best by far. The service from the owner Arianna was outstanding. Catering for all my needs and always more than happy to help with queries or show me around the hotel when I had additional queries. I was concerned that living in England would make the planning process tricky but Arianna and the staff made it simple and stress free.

The wedding reception meal was absolutely impeccable and the guests were thrilled with the wedding reception. We chose to have a 12 course wedding reception and not one of the courses was a disappointment. Most of the guests were Italian and they were all happy with the service and food.

Five of our guests travelling from outside of Italy stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and loved the tradition Italian decor and their bedrooms. When someone asked for extra pillows (due to a neck problem) the staff delivered them to the room straight away. Some of our friends visited the private beach down the road and commented on how beautiful the sandy beach is.

To sum it up I would recommend the Meridiana Hotel as a hotel and venue to hold an event. I am very excited about returning next year to celebrate my first wedding anniversary.

I spent 4 nights in this hotel out of season, in November. I expected more of it as I paid 100 euros for one person in double room, breakfast included. The lobby and exterior of hotel are very nice, and I liked it. The rooms are just opposite, the furniture is heavy, stylish, everything is red, even walls. But the rooms are comfortable and clean. No flat screen TV. The WI-FI signal is OK and it's free. The staff at the reception desk are very friendly. The hotel has nice outside swimming pool. The big disappointment was the breakfast, few pastries, one type of bread, marmelades, cereals, juices, coffe, tea and milk. The location is in Via Laura, where all other hotels in Paestum are. The archeological area is 10 minutes by car away.

Gentile Sign.

Stayed four nights here and had lovely time. Room was spacious and bathroom was good-all spotlessly clean, though decor was little dated and it was small double beds, queen or king. The swimming pools were very large and, during our stay, there was always plenty of room in the pool area. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. And excellent base for exploring surrounding area. Near to very nice private beach, though, as we were warned in advance, there is extra charge for this.
Pool was very deep but there were shallow bits.

Thankfully we only spent one night! We booked a quadruple room which was listed as having a balcony: there wasn't one. The room decor was extremely outdated with carpet; the rooms were not soundproof so we could hear the singers from the restaurant nearby doing their karaoke acts well past midnight...atrocious...and we could the guests above us moving chairs, dropping things, etc. The remote control was not working, so had to get up and turn off the TV, the Internet was constantly disconnecting...on top we were told that after leaving the room at 11AM in the morning, we could not continue using the swimming pools (which were closed anyway for part of the day...) I felt ripped off.

Second day on site at this hotel. Lobby, ground floor and gardens are gorgeous. Corridors to bedrooms could do with some spiffing up and lighting. Bedroom and bathroom are quite adequate. However only one desk clerk speaks English when she isn't on site you're in trouble. No info on paestum archeological site and museum at desk! And this is the main attraction of the area. No TV instructions in English on hand. Pity it seems as though this hotel doesn't cater to English speaking guests!

Arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm and were welcomed in after looking at several of the other nearby hotels. They offered a large clean and comfortable room overlooking the internal courtyard and pool as well as far reaching views across the agricultural plains to the mountains beyond. The breakfast was good continental style and the evening meal was very excellent. After an initial 2 nights we returned after a couple of days touring for a further 4 nights. The staff were very helpful and kind and were keen to ensure that we had all that we needed.
There were weddings nearly every day which was entertaining, and there was an option to enjoy the very clean, safe and clear beaches nearby. We did not need the internet as we were on holiday so we cannot comment.
There are several good restaurants in the area so you are never short of somewhere to eat.

Room Tip: choose a good room at the back.

The hotel had huge rooms (with small televisions). Rooms were clean. I stayed there two days. There were weddings there both days so I wasn't allowed to use the clean pool, lounge, and restaurant (whic i found out when I went to use it. There was a lower pool I used but it was dirty, and there were cigarette butts all over the pool area. The private beach was the only redeeming factor. The hotel had promise, but I guess the $$ weddings bring in, you don't have to work for repeat hotel guest business. If you stay here, call to see if there are weddings planned.
