We stayed here for one night (time did not permit more unfortunately). Lovely rural location, not commercialised, just yards from the beach, not a soul in sight on the beach in March. Simple but very nice rooms, motel style blocks but better than that. It was wonderfully quiet and we discovered they were not really fully open for the season yet. We were treated like royalty by the manager Domenico who made up a special dining table for two in front of the log fire in their award winning restaurant, candles all round. We had no idea what we would be served. But course after course of the most delicious food kept coming, all of it excellent, along with the local red wine which was also very good and decanted from the bottle into a carafe. All of it was very stylish. In the end we had to beg for the courses to stop coming, though it was all so inviting. The chef, Antonio, had been brought in specially to cook for us that night, from some distance away, and together with Domenico they gave us not only the best meal we have ever had in Italy, with the friendliest service by far, but one of the best anywhere.
We were not given a bill that night, and expected to pay quite a lot for all this excellence, but the next morning – after being confronted by an outstanding breakfast buffet with many items prepared by Antonio - we were staggered at how reasonable the cost was, especially when compared to the mediocre food and high prices in the tourist traps of Pompeii. This is just a superb place that made us feel very happy and we thank Domenico and Antonio for making it so memorable.
