Owner description: Pozzo della Cava is more than just a well... ...it's one of the highlights of a historical and archaeological tour of Orvieto...it's a place where the past and the present combine with respect for twenty-seven centuries of tradition...it's an invitation to discover Etruscans, Middle Ages and Renaissance, because Orvieto is not only the Cathedral...it's a fascinating underground itinerary located in the heart of Orvieto, through caves full of recently discovered archaeological finds...it's an unusual way of discovering the history the city known as Urbs Vetus and the customs of its people...it's an original opportunity to retake possession of a disinterred heritage

The re-discovery of the lives that were experienced many hundreds of years ago is quite a story. The explanatory signs are really detailed. If you want to walk through a time past you will not need a guide to do so, nor will you need to structure a time to be there. A very reasonable cost will get you in and you can spend however long you wish in there. There are many rooms, each with its own story. It is a fascinating place..

apart from offering a great place to pass half an hour on a hot afternoon, this underground cavern is extremely interesting, good value for money, information in several languages.

Imagine having lunch or dinner in the presence of old Etruscan caves or outside next to ancient walls and in a greenery filled pergola. Add to that old world home cuisine and you have Pozzo della Cava, an experience not to be missed.
Off the so-called beaten track in Orvieto and right in the middle of the oldest part of this historic city on a hill is a dining experience not to be missed. Some of the best pasta, sauces, bread and wine (try the vino della casa, red or white) and try to imagine what life was like in this area hundreds of years (or more) ago. Below the restaurant are caves and work rooms of historical Etruscan significance. A tour is a must.
Don't miss this special experience if you are ever in Orvieto.
