Owner description: Orvieta's magnificent Duomo (cathedral) is considered one of the must-see churches in Italy for its stunning gold-and-mosaic Gothic façade and magnificent frescoes by Luca Signorelli, which had a great influence on Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel.

Beautiful facade and lovely art work inside made the small admission fee worthwhile. I always like to support these beautiful churches

“Orvieto Duomo”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Lovely in the sun. Beautiful inside and out. We sat across from the Duomo with a bottle of wine and dinner and just looked at the church. It shines like gold in the sun!

incredible architectural beauty, historical significance. We wandered about the piazza eating our sandwiches and wondered if we were allowed to feed the pigeons. We learned about the pigeons later. The Black and white stonework was singularly striking about the duomo. We learned so much about intricate stonework on this amazing trip. We need to go back. Some thief in Florence picked our camera with all our photos out of my husband's carryall, so all our images come only from memory.

“Amazing building - frescoes incredible”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

Visited Orvieto for an afternoon. I thought I'd been there, done it, got the tee-shirt with cathedrals but this one was exceptional. A black & white striped exterior (2 stone types) and an interior full of paintindsand frescoes datingfrom 13th C to 16th/17th Century.

Around €5 entry from memory and the hand sheet given out is ample to help walking around.

If you are in the area worth a detourto see. 'Old' Orvieto is also a nice placeto amble around with some panoraqmic views from the walls.

“Orvieto's gem”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

You could spend hours examining the Duomo's facade - awesome view! But don't forget to go inside - there are more wonders awaiting. The Duomo's cappellas (chapels) with fantastic frescoes will leave nobody indifferent.
