“Great location & pool!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

I just stayed there for one day, but I am definitely going back. The location is perfect to arrive with the train (they pick you up from the station) and the owners are very kind. You can take a great walk up the hill to arrive to the city. Their pool looked great but unfortunately I could not enjoy it as the weather was not good. I am definitely going back!

Alberto the owner greeted us, showed us around the property which is a working farm just below Orvieto. Rooms were comfortable, roomy, nice view out window from our room. Typical Italian bathroom which means small shower is likely. Ease of exit was a learned task. Look up the hill to see no oncoming traffic, then downhill to see if upcoming traffic, then exit. Sign across street to mark the entrance, which we found without problem. Wonderful pool with views, filling breakfast. Couldn't ask for more. Our 6th or 7th visit to Orvieto. First to stay here.

If you are seeking a lovely getaway you could not fault this wonderful guest house on the slopes of the hill surrounding the walled Medieval city. An invigorating walk up a paved path will take you to the old city and the famous duomo. Host, Alberto, is a marvellous host and his wife an excellent cook. A perfect place for a second honeymoon!

Great breakfast. Almost everything for breakfast is grown in his gardens. Large comfortable room. We had WiFi in the room. I had left my electrical plug in the hotel in Rome. Alberto insisted on driving me into town in a downpour to an electrical supply store to buy replacement plugs for our electrical equipment. He showed us around his beautiful grounds and farm, with a (maybe) Etruscan cave that Alberto was doing some excavating in. Since my wife has a 2 acre organic garden, this was a big hit with her. Great hike up a back trail to the walled town of Orvieto. Would return without a doubt.

This was a great place to stay, at the foot of Orvieto. If you wanted exercise, it was a fun 20 minute walk uphill to the center of Orvieto. Or you could easily walk to the funicular. Our room was spacious, quiet, and perfectly clean, with a very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom (and larger, thicker towels than most B&Bs). I loved the wooden shutters outside the windows, that you could swing closed, to make the room totally dark at night. There was a pool, but the weather was too cold to use it. Minuses: Had to go into the stairwell to connect to the wifi, and the breakfast was so-so. You could tell they were trying, as they put out scrambled eggs and ham, along with compotes from their fruit harvest, bread, and good coffee. But unless you arrived when the hot food was first put out, you had to eat it cold. One of the other couples staying there told us they had not had any cleaning or towel change, until they complained after 3 days. In contrast, because we were staying only 2 nights, we had left a sign on our door (in Italian), saying we did NOT need cleaning or towels----and came back to find all the towels changed, bed made, etc.! Alberto was delightful, and very helpful --- for example, offering us a flashlight and umbrella, when we said we were heading up the hill to town, on a rainy night. Orvieto was one of our favorite towns in 3 weeks of travel, and we would certainly stay at Podere Sette Piagge again.

Room Tip: We asked for a room away from the road on an upper floor, so it faced the hillside and garden and wa...

This was one of the best stays we had during our three weeks in Italy! Alberto picked us up at the train station and also brought us downtown the next day so we could pick up our rental car. The location is wonderful, the rooms large and clean, the grounds and gardens beautifully kept, the breakfasts were delicious, the views of the surrounding countryside spectacular, but most of all the hospitality extended by Alberto was one of genuine warmth. Alberto and Lisabetta prepared a delicious meal for us using fresh vegetables from their gardens the second evening we were there, and had we known it was available (just ask), we would have had dinner there the first night. We have but one regret and that was we couldn't stay longer. When we return to Umbria we will make the Podere Sette Piagge our base and take day trips out. Thank you Alberto and Lisabetta for your wonderful hospitality!

Very nice host. Location perfect for people visiting Orvieto - 4min drive. Nice place. Clean rooms. Very nice gardens. Breakfast was disappointing. No WIFI in the room.

Bottom line, if we visit Orvieto again, this is the place we will stay in. We recommend.
