Description: our fully tuffed restaurant with arches dating back to the sixth century of 1600 awaits you at Cavour 231 in the historic center. our typical family management allows you to taste the true flavors of our typical local products ... we try not to use any products out of the region. wines are exclusively of Orvietan wineries.

me and my friend had lunch here yesterday and left the restaurant full and satisfied. we ordered their tourist menu which consisted of a plate of prosciutto, salami and bruschetta, a big serving of carbonara (best carbonara I have ever tasted!) and a glass of local white wine + water. Service is fast since there are few customers that time. The waiter is very nice and friendly and they even allowed us to recharge our cellphones. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

We went to this place attracted by the TripAdvisor sign on the door reporting that the place won the Excellence Certificate in 2013.
Unfortunately, we had one of the worst eating experience we have ever had in Italy.

We ordered a menu including meat, potatoes, bread and red wine.
The meat was of average quality, but potatoes were carbonized (they were as black as coal) and tasted oily.
The wine was awful (it tasted like warm sangria) and they claimed with pretension that it was local wine. Umbria is a wonderful region with amazing wines that have nothing to do with what we drank.

I think this place is extremely overvalued and does not deserve an excellence certificate.

The Best Meal I have ever eaten was served to me in Locanda del Lupo.

The best dessert, too.

I had the pleasure of studying abroad in Orvieto, and ate at Locanda del Lupo with enthusiastic regularity. I found all their food delicious. One day in mid-November, I was served their Pasta Carbonara, and to this day, without exaggeration, I start to tear up thinking about how much I enjoyed that pasta. I've only teared up one other time over a dish in my life; the first time I ate their Chocolate Tiramisu.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Locanda del Lupo is a family run restaurant and inn with an un-appolgetic pure local flavor in ambiance, right down to the occasional appearance of the owner's karaoke machine. The restaurant itself is small, though it does have a lovely back outdoor eating space, which isn't easy to come by in the upper city. It isn't fancy, nor does it pretend to be, just exceedingly comfortable, warm, and inviting. The staff, made up by the family that owns the restaurant and inn, are part of that warmth. Mauro, the proprietor, and Enia the chef are both eager to smile and please their guests, and often chat with them if possible.

The food at Locanda, particularly if you're fond of authentic home Italian cuisine, is top grade. The dishes, while not flashy, are tremendously full of flavor, and the ambiance is local and fun. If you want to feel a bit like you're actually an Italian, or just want to feel like family, this is the place for you. Go.

Friendly place, good value - we just wanted to eat supper and were not looking for the full gastronomic rzzamatazz - after all this is an inn with rooms. Very relaxed - not sure I wanted the TV on but it didn't intrude too much. We would certainly return if we found ourselves in Orvieto.

Having found out first choice restaurant was closed on the night in question we wandered off to find an alternative and spotted a Trip Advisor sign outside this place we ventured in. However, it was a disappointment. It was busy though not overrun but the service was slow. Most of the food was fine but my spaghetti carbonara was the saltiest dish I have ever had. There was little or no sauce just salty pancetta. Other reviewers list the carbonara as a highlight so I can only suggest this was a blip but an inedible one. Just one other note - like many Italian restaurants this one has a large screen TV on all the time. We had the misfortune to be there when an episode of CSI (or similar) was on and showed full details of a man getting filleted and blood streaming everywhere. Not the most appetising environment! We didn't ask for it to be turned off as other people were watching it eagerly. Overall, the food took too long to come and mine was inedible. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place.
