We had a bit of a hard time finding the Misia, as our GPS led us astray. But, we were delighted when we arrived. The owners had gone out of their way to make sure a room was available early so we could store our luggage before going into Orvieto for lunch. We were four people traveling with a huge number of bags, and Giorgio (host/owner/designer) unloaded everything from our van, and later took the bags for the other couple to their room. The "resort" is very new, and everything is fresh, spotless and done to a very high level. The huge walk-in shower with both rainhead and hand-held spray was the best we encountered in our 8-week trip. The king bed was made up with crisp, elegant linens - and was very comfortable. Small sandwiches and sausage were served (complimentary) in the early evening. Giorgio gave us several suggestions for restaurants in Rome. You couldn't ask for a more helpful, friendly host. The property was the perfect blend of old and modern for our tastes. Beautiful views as well! They are building a spa, which we hope to experience one day.

Room Tip: There are two or three rooms (#10 is one - can't remember others) that have no or very few steps...

Can't say enough good things about the Misia Resort. It is located about 12 minutes from Orvietto and up a winding road. It is part of a small 'town' with a beautiful view of Orvietto. So relaxing to return to after a day of site seeing. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The breakfast buffet was fresh and plentiful. It was very easy to get to Orvietto and Civita de Bagnoregio. Also, convenient shops for basics just down the hill. Great restaurant about 4 minutes from hotel when you are too tired to drive further. All these alone would make Misia a great place to stay but when you add in the host (Georgio) it goes to a new level. Never in all my travels have I met a proprietor who is so welcoming, helpful and caring. Gave great restaurant recommendations in Orvietto. (In fact, we ran into his Georgio and his family one night. A very good sign!). He also gave us great recommendations for our stay in Rome. An example of the kind of host he is... the day we were leaving Orvietto for Rome there was a one day train strike. How would we gets back to Rome? He was sincerely upset that he could not drive us himself since he has a small car and the luggage wouldn't fit!

My husband and I had a trip through Florence/Chianti/Orvieto/Rome planned through a travel agent. When the reservation with the Orvieto destination fell through, we were rebooked at Misia Resort and it turned out to be the highlight of our vacation! After a challenging experience finding our way to the resort right beneath the beautiful Rocca Ripesena (directions could be improved), we were charmed and mesmerized by the host, Giorgio, and the tiny village, most of which seems to be part of the Misia. I was stunned by the decor, which is as captivating to the eye as any photo spread in Elle Decor or Architectural Digest. Giorgio's talents as an artist and a designer are evident in absolutely every corner of the Misia, inside and out. (Did I mention that he is also incredibly handsome and down-to-earth?) The photos hardly do justice, but if you are a fan of exquisitely decorated surroundings that exude character, creativity, with a contemporary European edge, this is your place. I never stopped smiling or complimenting Giorgio on what he has accomplished. Rooms were gorgeous, best bed we have ever slept in in our lives, breakfast room and lobby bar were the best appointed and welcoming we have visited, food amazing, hosts Giorgio and Alessandra unbelievably charming and helpful. Orvieto is an enchanting city on a hill-- beautiful view of it from the top of the Rocca. Future plans for Misia include a spa, restaurant, etc...I cannot wait to return one day to see the evolution of this wonderful place that is right at the top of my list of vacation experiences.

Room Tip: The rooms vary, so check them out and see what fits your needs. Soundproofing between rooms is minim...

The Misia Resort is a true gem that is close to Orvieto (although, you will need a car to properly see the area). The beds were the most comfortable that we had in Italy and our hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and showed us excellent hospitality. The bathrooms were very roomy and the room very comfortable. I would definitely use the Misia Resort as a base from which to explore Orvieto and Umbria.

Before a six day convention in Rome, we spent three days at Misia Resort in Rocca Ripesena near Orvieto. The setting was spectacular and the host, Giorgio, was most accommodating. During our brief stay, there was only one other room occupied as we were there Monday through Wednesday. When we arrived, we were tired from our overnight flight and did not feel like driving into Orvieto for dinner, so Giorgio offered to pick up pizza and bring it back. We dined with him that night in the lobby. I would not necessarily expect that type of service when the resort is full. However, Giorgio’s genuinely friendly demeanor and his wonderful facility made for some of the nicest days we have ever spent anywhere.

Giorgio plans a small restaurant in the near future and, if there is anything the property lacks, it is food service besides breakfast. Misia is off a winding road and, although a short drive into Orvieto for dinner, it is quite interesting returning at night. I would not let that keep me from staying at this fine boutique B&B. It is built directly in front of the “rock” (Rocca Ripesena). There is a path that leads from one side of the property (short but steep) to the top of the “rock” and the view is absolutely incredible. With the sun setting on Orvieto, there is no more beautiful scene anywhere in Umbria or Tuscany.

We highly recommend a stay at Misia.

The setting, a small, ancient-appearing village, looking like it was carved from the face of the cliff it sits on, the decor, warm tones and tasteful, comfortable furnishings, but most of all, the generous, warm hospitality made our experience at Misia outstanding. Our host, Georgio, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. As just one example, he recommended restaurants that we would not have found otherwise, and which gave us an authentic taste of Umbria. Our room was very private and comfortable, furnished in the same warm earth-tones found throughout the resort. An ample breakfast buffet, with pastries, breads to toast, fresh fruit, cereals, cold cuts and cheeses - and cappuccino - was served in an attractive dining room. While Misia is set in the Italian countryside, we found it an easy drive to Orvieto and the incredible Medeaval town of Civita di Bagnoregio.

Amazing location, delicious home-made breakfast, great people! I recommend - a must if you are in Orvieto area! The Rocca that overlooks it is extremely suggestive. The rooms are spacious and decorated in the most relaxing tones. Be assured your holiday will be a real vacation!
