Description: Il Cocco restaurant is located in the heart of the historic center of Orvieto, one of the most charming towns in Umbria, Italy. The restaurant is next to Piazza della Repubblica and the wonderful Town Hall Palace, in Via Garibaldi. Our restaurant offers a menu with many traditional dishes and is the ideal place to enjoy a meal in Orvieto. Inside our restaurant are available two quiet and well furnished rooms. Giancarlo, the owner, together with his staff, will be at your disposal. Our best dishes are based on local products, such as wild boar, truffle, porcini mushrooms, rabbit, veal, and much more. Moreover, our restaurant offers a great selection of local and national wines. We can host up to 45 people inside and 15 people outside. In fact, during the warm season, you can enjoy your meal in Orvieto while sitting at our outdoor tables on Via Garibaldi, just 20 meters from the unique Piazza della Repubblica and from the Sant'Andrea Church. We inform our customers that our fried mixed plate will be served again in the autumn season.

“Very good service and delicious food”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights in Orvieto and after eating at Ristorante del Cocco on the second evening we went back again on the third evening. We were treated like VIP's by the owner and the staff. It was such a pleasure to eat here. The food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the Ravioli with Sage, Beef with Green Peppercorn Sauce and Truffle Chicken and the Raspberry Mousse was an explosion of flavour. Our experience in this restaurant added to an absolutely wonderful stay in the amazing hill town of Orvieto.

“Wonderful Restaurant - Great Food”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

My wife and I live in Rome and when friends or family visit we always spend a night or two in Orvieto. We found this lovely restaurant during our first visit and just keep coming back to it. The host/owner is absolutely wonderful and will treat you like a local. The food if fantastic. Everything we've had - pasta, rabbit or wild boar - has been delicious. The deserts are unbelievable. We've eaten at higher rated restaurants in Orvieto - and they were good - but this restaurant is always full of local folks from Orvieto. Our experiences here have always been spot on - fresh pasta, delicious meat dishes and very fair prices. Give it a try.

“A very pleasant dining experience”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

We went to this restaurant without a reservation after arriving in Orvieto fairly late in the evening. Fortunately, we were able to get a table and enjoyed a great meal. The place is, typically, fairly small and you can see right into the kitchen. The owner also serves as one of the waiters and was very thoughtful in helping us to choose our meal. The service was attentive throughout the meal. The roasted pork chop and the veal were superb as were the salads. For desert we had tiramissou which was unlike any we had before. Very light and very nice. To top it off, the owner makes his own vinsanto and generously brought us each a glass after our dinner at no charge. We love this restaurant and will go again next time we are in the area.

“Great meal”

If we had more time in Orvieto, we would have returned a few times to Il Cocco. Highly recommend the Ravioli with butter and sage as a primi piatti. Nice staff too

“che ristorante!!!!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

This time we visted Orvieto we didn't want to book a restaurant, it was lunchtime.
The four of us got impressed by the hospitality of the owner and the person who was serving us.
Both of them were so friendly and they were making sure we were fine all the time and made us feel special.
Fantastic service!
This is very exceptional nowdays in Italy, especially if they see you are a foreigner.
Food: what can i say, whatever we ordered was delicious! As a starter we went for carciofi alla romana, some bruschette ( the bean and fennel patè is to die for) and a choice for salami.
I am still thinking of the umbrichelli pasta with the restaurant creation sauce called "cocco",
then tagliatelle with truffles and ossobuco meat.
The prices are very reasonable.
Atmosphere is simple and very nice.
We will definately return next time we go to Orvieto!
