“I piece of Paradise!”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

We stayed there in mid May 2011. We were absolutely thrilled once we got there. Stefano greeted us as we drove in and was the perfect host for our stay. He was very helpful with tips for day trips, restaurants to try and anything else that was required. The hotel is a few minutes outside of the historic city, which we could see from the hotel. The location was perfect for our day trips and we were isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city after a long day of driving. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the mornings, had dinner there the first night we arrived and were very impressed with the food and service. In the afternoons, we enjoyed an aperitif by the poolside with nibbles before heading out on the town. The staff in general were always helpful, accommodating and friendly. Their goal was to make you feel welcome.
The room was spacious with all the comforts, king size bed, nice bed linen, comfortable pillows, very modern bathroom, with nice products, wifi, flat screen tv which also serves as a computer. Our room had a large terrace where we could enjoy the beautiful scenery.
This property lends itself for rest and relaxation. The weather was too cold for us to enjoy the two swimming pools on the property and we never got a chance to go to the spa. But his is most definitely a place that we will re-visit.

We stayed here in mid-April and while the weather wasn't great, we really enjoyed the staff and the room. We were in a garden suite that has a patio in front with a great view of Orvieto which is about 10 minutes away by car. We were greeted warmly with smiles and that was a theme for the two nights we stayed. The wi-fi in the room actually worked (a feature we had problems with in other hotels), the bathroom was nice and big, the bed and pillows comfortable.

We found the breakfast nicely laid out and a pretty good selection. We ate in the restaurant both nights because it was convenient and the food was pretty good. We had wonderful eggplant parmigiana and lamb. We had also had a nice bottle of Orvieto Classico when we arrived that helped us relax. And, this is a place to relax. There isn't anything else to do here but slow down and enjoy the view. You're close enough to the city that it's easy to get to, but after being in a number of small Italian villages, it's nice to get out in the country and have a vista.

The location is quiet and removed from the city. Breakfast is acceptable but the limit of one hot drink is simply ridiculous and something we did not experience at any other property in Italy. Flat screen television with only Italian channels. Pool area barren with virtually no shade.

The restaurant is operated separately from the hotel. We had lunch. Fairly expensive. Served a white wine at room temperature which was very warm. They chilled the wine but it was not at a drinkable temperature until near the end of our meal.

The position of this place is splendid. Right across the valley you can see the Duomo of Orvieto from a wonderful terrace with an infinity pool. The rooms are large and comfortable. The only criticisms were that the sheets were very short and didn't quite come up to our shoulders and that the chairs on the terrace were not very comfy for taking the sun.
The staff were extremely welcoming. Luckily the weather was good as you have to walk to the restaurant to eat, I don't know if it would be as pleasant if it was raining or cold. Breakfast was adequate, although you are only 'allowed' one hot drink per person. We also tried dinner there. The food was extremely good and beautifully presented, and our waiter was wonderful. They had a very good wine list too. Again dinner was quite pricey. We also tried out the spa, with the sauna, turkish bath and a massage. The massage was perfect, so although it was rather expensive - we felt it was worth it.

Room Tip: Well worth a visit and really close to Orvieto. Try to get a room near the restaurant in case of in...

If you are looking to escape the hectic pace of life, then Orvieto is ideal. InnCasa is an idyllic spot, with gorgeous, postcard-like views (see their website). For those of you looking to stay during the winter low season, here is our opinion:

1) Transport: We did not have a car, but it was easy to arrange a taxi to get around Orvieto, and because it is a small town, we got the same driver several times (thank you Simon!). You may have to wait a few minutes for taxi arrival but nothing inconvenient. Orvieto is an easy train ride from Rome (approx 1.5 hours).
2) Food: Unfortunately, the on-site restaurant was closed, because of the timing of our visit during the winter holidays.
3) Lodging: Rustic. Had lovely views, but did not feel inviting. Bedroom was only a little larger than a double bed. Bathroom was small, with shower stall only. No tub. Kitchen had plates, utensils, microwave, stocked minifridge.
4) Service: Staff was friendly and helpful.
All in all, my opinion is that winter is not a good time to go, as it feels a bit isolating. I should like to return to InnCasa when it is at its best, during the warmer months, when everything is in full swing.

InCasa hotel is beautiful and modern, that goes both for the huge rooms and the grounds. Parking is free but the dirt road is a bit narrow and not well lit at night, which caused me to miss a sharp turn and damage my car. The biggest problem we encountered was a power outage in the morning when we wanted to check out. That meant no light, no running water, no phone and no coffee for breakfast… While the problem was with the city power supply, they should have had a backup generator for these types of situations. We only stayed one night so I’m not sure how quickly it was resolved. I also found 2 hairs in the bed, so while it was overall clean, I have to downgrade them for that. If you’re stopping for a day in Orvieto, it’s a good pick since parking in the city seems easy, not sure if there is much else to explore in that area…

Excellent location . Breakfast amazing - outside overlooking Orvieto . Staff knowledgeable and courteous . Evening meal a bit disappointing - had to wait for ages for food to arrive although was told by other guests that subsequent nights were excellent so perhaps we were just unlucky .
