Description: Cavallotta - Restaurants for wedding ceremonies and business dinners in Novara - Piedmont - Italy Indulge in relaxing on a couch or enjoy a drink together with old friends. Look for a mysterious face in the shadows. Recognizing a smile between the notes of a song became a classic. They are glimpses of life, intense moments that are intertwined, soft and delicate, around that sound - an exquisitely unique mood - that envelops all things. This is what we call CA 'Experience. CA 'is in Novara. Restaurant and lounge bar, summer pool embraced by the green, tennis club and even resort. It is the golden node that binds together multiple worlds. It is a place of ancient flavors and stories that are born, on the fine line between style and poetry. It is space of delicate music and sinuous, composed of a pentagram that accompanies it, the notes, the ice rattling in a drink or the chorus of bright bubbles that rise along a flute of Champagne. CA 'is a short distance from the exit of Novara West. Very easy to reach. Very Hard to leave.

Peaceful elegance, excellent service, wonderful food. Choose to dine inside or outside. The restaurant has a pool annex and tennis courts for the energetic.
Don't expect to get off lightly, though - this chain of high-end restaurants is not for those on a limited budget.

NB. The car park can get crowded at peak times

CA is a fancy and cozy restaurant in Novara, Italy. The food is amazing, you can choose between pasta, risotto, meat, fish and an awesome pizza. If you wanna eat pizza I advise you the one with a mozzarella on top of it.
A must: Tiramisu!

I have visited this restaurant just before Christmas. May be the reason being the various "lunch for the greetings" with collegues or clients, but it was really crowded, and of course this fact always affects the time of response and the service, but, all in all, I was satisfied. No one was pushing us to order more than what we wanted, and the price is honest.

Okay, usually when you find a place called "the place to be" it is never a good sign. talking about grandeur or what? This time however this was really the place to be.
Excellent on almost everything, and, coming from a family of chefs, I am not someone who is easy to satisfy!
First of all the food, which is after al the main reason someone would go to a restaurant: top marks.
We are not talking here about italian nouvelle cuisine, like Gualtiero Marchesi or Cracco. If you like that kind of food, forget it. I mean, it is good, but you cannot eat it every day! No, this restaurant (called "Ca", which in italian is the equivalent of the french "Maison". Very unpretentious for what it turned to be an excellent place) offers traditional italian cuisine of the area, just incredibly good traditional cuisine.
No flare, no fancy, just simply GOOD.
The Risotto alla Milanese is for instance a dish that any housewife with a bit of cooking experience can do in italy, but are they going to choose the proper quality of rice? The broth is fresh or do they use stock cubes? And what kind of Saffron do they use? Powder or (more appropriately) stems? and so on…
The risotto was wonderful and so i bothered to check about the saffron quality as well (stems indeed, and of the best kind!).
Then i had some Baccala' fish (a type of cod) on a layer of Parmesan cheese garnished with Balsamic vinegar. Strong flavor, right? Wrong, i never had a such delicate serving. And i don't even like Baccala'!
Then came the Maccheroncini with assorted fish and shellfish. The pasta was made in-house, and the fish very fresh and very well done. Now, i would not make a big deal of this if it wasn't for the fact that the restaurant sits in the middle of the Pianura Padana, far away from any fishing market!
Follows the Zucchine mousse with goat cheese and tomato. Again, strong flavor, right? Wrong again. It was incredibly delicate, and every spoon of it made me want another spoon to follow.
Finally, for the last of the main courses, a Cotechino del Podere con orzo mantecato al Timo. this one is definitely my citation of honor. The cotechino is a traditional food of Piedmont: fat pork salami boiled and sliced, served with potatoes or rice. In this case, apart from the excellent quality of the pork salami, it got served with barley and thyme. I cannot express what delight of a dish this was. absolutely wonderful! The barley was softened and creamy, and the perfect spouse for the Cotechino.
Now from my writing it looks that i was eating like an elephant, but i just had tastings from the dishes of my wife and my business partner. I am describing here food for two-three people.
One of us also ordered a Pizza with Bufala Mozzarella, smoked ricotta and yellow pumpkin (!!??). well, i have to say that usually i am quite conservative on pizzas and do not look favorably into excessive innovation.. but this one was really good! Who would have guessed that pumpkin is so good on Pizza? The smoked ricotta also made the perfect punctuation to the pumpkin.
At the end i was quite full, but (call me too self-indulgent, i don't care) i asked for a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream.
what came was a portion for six people!
Yet this was not Hagen-daaz or Ben&Jerry. This was way way above in taste and quality. I ended up eating all of it.
After i enquired about it, i was told that they have a special ice-cream machine, and it had been prepared on order for me in five minutes or so. Wow! And do not get me started on the chocolate sauce! I would have licked the plate but my wife keeps telling me it's bad manners.
Coffe included in the lunch menu, but because she wished for some tea, she got a nice set of choice to choose from, very elegant.

So, what's next? well, the place is spacious (around 180 seats between inside and outside), lively but not noisy, has an absolutely elegant atmosphere and first class service. The waiter not only did not send me packing, with all of my questions about this and that, but was very helpful, and got even the chef out of the kitchen to talk with me about dish preparation and showing me their saffron and their truffles.
You can choose what's on the menu or not. and they have a SERIOUS choice for wines. all first class.
But God is in the details: the small appetizer (a one-bite potato and beef fritter, garnished with hand-made mayonnaise), while we were waiting for our food, the "no gluten" menu, for those with gluten intolerance, the lemon tissue, to wash your hands of the shellfish, the bottle of water, unopened (thus guaranteeing that it hadn't just being filled with tap water), the bread basket (fresh, multiple kinds, made in-house), the cutlery and the crockery (all first quality, comfortable, nice to have in one's hand, nice-looking), the comfortable seating, the name of their food suppliers on the menu, and the list goes on…
Last but not least: there are no tables near the entrance of the kitchen or the entrance to the toilets, and the toilets are very nice and clean.
Admittedly this is not a place in the center of town. It is in the center of rice fields! One would expect a restaurant of this quality behind La Scala Opera house in Milano, however it is only a few minutes from Novara, and very close to the Milano-Torino highway. Anyone traveling in this area MUST stop at this place.
Especially because, after all of this, we paid far less than i had to pay in many average restaurants, which were more pretentious and did far worse with their food or their service.
It is no surprise that they have many wedding parties and they also host the regionals meetings for the Rotary club.
Me, next time i am in the area, i'm going to go there again.
