This is a lovely family run hotel and restaurant. Meals are served in a big old dining hall with a roaring fire and rustic ambience. The hotel is comfortable and well-run; get a room with a balcony onto this charming walled town. The last time we stayed here someone abandoned a very cute puppy in the parking lot and the hotel family immediately took it in and gave it something to eat and adopted it as their dog. They are friendly, funny and warm-hearted.
Take a day trip to the Piano Grande and see the wild terrestrial orchids and poppies, and stop in the village of Castellucio. Also worth doing is a drive through the Valnerina pass, with its bookend castles.
We'll be back to Norcia soon, and we'll stay at this hotel again.
