Description: The Osteria ACQUACHETA, open for over 25 years, has retained the characteristics of the old Tuscan taverns. The kitchen, sharing tables, one glass for water and wine, and not least an authentic welcome and true, typically Tuscan, make it a local flavor ... you feel at home ... Managers, CHIARA and GIULIO, have maintained intact over the years the tradition of pasta, bread, cakes and homemade preserves to which are added succulent steaks cooked Florentine embers of wood. Local, small and very popular, is located in the upper part of the old town, a few steps from the main square.

Make a reservation. Be prepared to eat at communal tables. Eat the bisteca al florentine. Enjoy the quirks. Feel like you are part of a Italian Family.

we booked a week before we arrived. the restaurant, food everything was like all the reviews have commented. great food, price, service, people, atmosphere that feels very local. they open at 7:30pm and people are waiting outside before it actually opened. compared to other restaurants around montepulciano it seems so popular. highly recommend those that are seeking some local.

“Great fun”

This restaurant will not suit everyone, but if you're in the mood for great steak, full on atmosphere, and enjoying yourself the Julio has the solution.
Go with no inhibitions, get stuck in to the house red and have a brilliant night as I always do

“The Real Deal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

If you're looking for an authentic Italian/Tuscan experience this is the place! Baudy, fun, great food. Our reservation for a table for ten was honored even though there are no online reservations and a phone call from the USA in English and broken Italian left me wondering. The restaurant is narrow, crowded, and loud (although you can still hear). Service was great. Only one glass per person provided for both water and wine. If you want a second glass, buy another bottle of wine (which we thought was hilarious). You choose your own steak from a couple of raw pieces of meat the owner presents to you. He writes the weight and price on the table cloth. The bill was written out on the table cloth, too, with the addition checked by the owner. Everyone at our table loved their food. Definitely make a reservation. The street in front of the restaurant was filled with people trying to get a table.

“if it is a Fiorentina steak you seek...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2014

your prayers have been answered. point one: make a reservation, no reservation no smile. 2 sittings at lunch time. after walking the hilltop town flat, we were confronted with a noisy, buzzing atmosphere, where you get to know the people around you, whether you like it or not. the service was prompt and good ( by the owner) and it is Carnivorism at its best. dont be fooled, if you order a starter, you WILL NOT get through the main course. have a steak, order it medium ( or else it will be bleu) and maybe a veg side or some delicious roast potatoes with rosemary. half way through, the chef will collect and reheat it for you. great steak, great atmosphere and the uniqueness of the bill calculation will leave you smiling.. the weight of your steak, plus the sides and wine, scribbled on your table cover and rounded down to make you happy. Wonderful, fun and definitely not formal :)
