Description: The Osteria ACQUACHETA, open for over 25 years, has retained the characteristics of the old Tuscan taverns. The kitchen, sharing tables, one glass for water and wine, and not least an authentic welcome and true, typically Tuscan, make it a local flavor ... you feel at home ... Managers, CHIARA and GIULIO, have maintained intact over the years the tradition of pasta, bread, cakes and homemade preserves to which are added succulent steaks cooked Florentine embers of wood. Local, small and very popular, is located in the upper part of the old town, a few steps from the main square.

Amazing food, great price and a unique experience. The owner is crazy but passionate, and the service needs to be quick as they have 2 dinner services one at 730 and one at 915, so if you want to take your time and not feel rushed choose the later sitting. For the quality of food the price is amazing, me and my wife both had appetizers, one main each and a full bottle of wine for only 38£!! e look forward to returning to Montepulciano and specifically this restaurant.

“Avoid it”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012 via mobile

There are some other good restaurants to try. They have a bad food, awful pasta, unpleasant service and the owner was more interested in his dinner with friends than worried about the clients satisfaction. The housecwine was argh.... Thinking that we arecin Montepulciano, home of Nobiles and Rossos. Could serve a better one.

“OK food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

This little osteria is always recommended by hotel owners here.
I've been to this place maybe more than 4 times.
I feel this place more and more touristic than local flair.
This time, we sat with 6 other American tourists !
Good food but certainly not the best.
It's just OK for me.

“Crazy owners but the food is to die for. You must visit this place, very authentic.”

The food is rustic and very Italian. You can only order a few things as the menu is limited but you wouldn't need any more. It is very typical of the region. The atmosphere was great and very busy. You must call ahead and reserve a seat, you can't just turn up as it is always fully booked. Best experience of our Tuscan trip!

“So Good We Ate Here Twice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2012

Every person we spoke to in Montepulciano strongly recommended Acuacheta...and we understand why. What a fabulous restaurant.

The ambiance is great. It's small, but not cramped. You can see back into the kitchen and watch the owner/chef at work. The bistecca fiorentina (t-bone steak) is what they are famous for...and it's amazing. Portions are cut to order and are generally HUGE! We shared it along with a delicious picci pasta with porcini mushrooms.

But other dishes were equally good. In particular, the veal osso bucco was fabulous (night two) as were several other pastas we tried.

The house wine is very good and very inexpensive. Overall, prices were surprisingly reasonable.

This is a must stop if your in Montepulciano. But be sure to get a reservation. They have two seatings a night and space is limited.
