Make reservations early, days in advance! My husband and I tried to get in the day we arrived in town, but they were filled for both their 7:30 and 9:30pm. The next night they only had 9:30pm available, so we took that.
The seating is osteria style, so get comfortable with your neighbors! We actually ended up making good friends with 2 of the women sitting next to us and ordered the same thing (fiorentina) so the owner gave us a discounted price on one large corner piece of meat to split. There is also only 1 glass, so if you order both wine and water (which we did) you have to switch out which you want in your glass.
It's high energy, fast paced, and WONDERFUL steak. It is cooked more on the rare/ medium-rare side (I usually order medium), but tasted delicious and I wanted them to prepare it how they saw fit. We also ordered a pear salad which was great to split (and dessert, chocolate cheesecake!)
The night ends by the owner writing your check on the paper table cloth and totaling up the bill; they did accept credit card.
One of our favorite restaurants on our 2 week trip throughout Italy and a nice break from pasta as well. Definitely recommend going here if you're stopping or staying in Montepulciano!
